toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. For more info on how to participate in this weekly post or future topics click here.

1. Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon

Gabaldon-Voyager-

I’m slowly making my way through this novel, since I kind of rushed through the first two books in the Outlander series. It’s perfect for summer reading since it’s a lengthy novel, and I can take my time reading it while imagining Scotland’s picturesque landscape in my mind.

2. The Winner’s Crime (Winner’s Trilogy #2) by Marie Rutkoski

the winner's crime

I’m excited to read this novel since I really enjoyed the story and action presented in the first novel. The first book ended on  a cliffhanger, so I’m wondering what will be the aftermath of Kestrel’s decisions.

3. Kindred by Octavia E. Butler

kindred

I’ve been eyeing this novel on the shelf for a while, and finally decided to pick it up. I’m only a few chapters in and the book is so good! While most time-travelling books are fun adventures, this one is more on the dangerous side as the main character is thrown back into the past at a very turbulent period of history.

4. The Queen of The Tearling by Erika Johansen

the queen of the tearling

I love this book so far! The characters, the thrills, the adventure! It’s a great mixture of fantasy and the real world. I can’t wait to finish this.

5. Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

saint anything

A highly anticipated read! I love reading Dessen’s works and the way she explores complex family and friend relationships in her novels. I am so grateful that my mom surprised me with a copy of this book as a gift, so I can’t wait to dig in.

6. LumberJanes Vol.1 by Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson

lumberjanes

This has been in my TBR pile for a while. I bought a copy during shopping on Free Comic Book Day. The story looks fun since it’s about a group of girls spending summer at a scout camp, and the supernatural phenomena they encounter there. It sounds similar to Gravity Falls, one of my favorite shows!

7.  Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor

akata witch

I’ve been on the quest to read more diverse books this year and when I was looking for suggestions of novels I found this gem on tumblr. It’s been recommended by lots of fellow readers and the story looks interesting!

8. Confessions by Kanae Minato

confessions

I picked this book to read for the 2015 Books in Translation challenge. I figured since I’ve been studying Japanese language and culture for as long as I have that it’s time to start reading works by Japanese authors. This story looks thrilling and it’s one big murder mystery.

9. Norwegian Wood by Harumi Murakami

norwegian wood

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Murakami’s novels, so I decided to buy Norwegian Wood. The story sounds intriguing.

10. The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black

the darkest part of the forest

This novel has been in my TBR list since I got as a birthday gift (in February, lol). I’ve been hesitant to read it since I know it’s a standalone and that I’ll probably want to read even more of the story after I finish the book. I hope she writes another faeries series in the future, like her past novels.

And that’s just a small chunk of what I’ll be reading this summer! What are you going to read this summer? Do you have any recommendations of a must-read for summer? Comment below! 🙂
