Tea Time Review: Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride

tea time review

Hello fellow readers and tea drinkers! Although I’ve done a couple of tea reviews previously on this blog, welcome to another edition of Tea Time Review. This is a segment where I’ll try various teas and review them. To see my most recent tea review, click here.

Today’s tea is perfect throughout the holidays as well as cold winter day. Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride is a caffeine free tea created by Celestial Seasonings (one of my favorite tea brands).

Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride, as stated by Celestial Seasonings, “combines sweet roasted barley and botanicals to create the inviting aroma and freshly baked taste of homemade sugar cookies”. Upon opening the box I definitely caught a whiff of the aroma of baked goods, but no distinctive sugar cookie smell at all.

I steeped the tea for about 5 minutes with boiled water. Depending on how you like your tea, Celestial Seasonings recommends steeping it for about 4-6 minutes. And then tada, the finished result!

After I finished steeping the tea, I immediately smelled the aroma of delicious sugar cookies. I also noticed the tea color resembled freshly baked sugar cookies. I couldn’t wait to try it.

My Overall Thoughts: Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride is a wonderful tea that essentially tastes like Christmas in a cup. It’s a very light tea and has a very nice aroma that makes the drinker feel cozy and warm. However this tea was so light (perhaps I steeped it for too short of a time when I first made it) that it tasted somewhat bland.

I’ve gotten to the point now where I’ve weaned myself off of having sugar every time I drink tea, but I found that when I gave the tea a second try with a moderate amount of sugar it tasted even better. I feel that this tea is best paired with scones or any other light desert treat if you’re going to drink it without sugar, otherwise you might need some type of sweetener.

I felt this tea was so-so and I actually enjoyed Celestial Seasonings’ other holiday tea Nutcracker Sweet way better. That tea has a much richer flavor and it doesn’t taste bland at all.

  1. I’ll have to check this one out even though I’m not a big tea drinker. Unrelated and unimportant but I wish Celestial Seasonings would have stuck with their original designs on their boxes and not gone all contemporary on us. I adored seeing those bears in nightcaps on some of those boxes. 🙂
