Reading Challenges For 2015!

It’s 2015 and I’m ready for a new year of fun reading challenges! But before I start, I’ll recap last year’s challenges.

In 2014 I participated in:

  • The Goodreads Challenge
  • Quick Reads
  • Read Your Freebies Challenge

I almost completed my Goodreads challenge, by 7 books. I almost finished the Quick Reads challenge, but was short by two books. And the Read Your Freebies challenge? Well I had zero books accounted for. I know I did read some e-books last year, but I honestly forgot what I read. So this year I definitely have to make more of an effort to read all those books I downloaded on my e-reader.

With the exception of the Goodreads challenge, I decided to participate three other reading challenges this year. The mission is clear: read more, and read more of a variety.

Here are this years challenges I’ll be participating in and my goals:

goodreads

Goodreads 2015 Reading Challenge: Read 80 books (that’s 10 more books than 2014’s goal)

2015 Translation

Books in Translation Reading Challenge, Hosted by The Introverted Reader: The goal is  to read translations of books. I’ll be doing the conversationalist level, where I have to read 4-6 books.

Diversity on the Shelf 2015, Hosted by My Little Pocketbooks: The goal is to add diversity to your bookshelf by reading books by authors of color and/or about a main character of color. I’ll be doing the second shelf level, where I have to read 7-12 books.

Book Riot Read Harder Challenge: The goal of this challenge is to read more diversely. There are 25 tasks to complete in total and some the categories are really interesting such as “a book that takes place in Africa” and “a book published before 1850”.

And these are my reading challenges for this year! Let’s do it!

  1. Love this post! I am going to be doing the goodreads challenge once again this year, but didn’t know about the others until now. Thanks for the great ideas. – Maria

  2. I’m officially doing the goodreads challenge and the Back to the Classics 2015 challenge, but also unofficially challenging myself to read more diversely, and seeing how far I get on the 2015 reading challenge that seems to have been doing the rounds on 9gag and Tumblr.
