Movies
K-Pop Demon Hunters

A world-renowned K-Pop girl group balance their lives in the spotlight with their secret identities as demon hunters.
I am obsessed with this film! I remember hearing about it when it was development and it turned out to be so good. I am excited to see more original animated films instead of existing IPs and reboots. The soundtrack was great (and I have the tracks on repeat) and I loved the animation style and story. It’s a meaningful story that blends Korean culture with universal emotions that anyone can relate to. I had so much fun picking out the K-Pop and K-drama Easter eggs placed in the film too. I would be amped if they made a sequel for this film.
Red Velvet Happiness Diary : My Dear, ReVe1uv in Cinemas

Experience the dazzling live performances from the 2024 Red Velvet FANCON TOUR HAPPINESS: My Dear, ReVe1uv in SEOUL, along with behind the scenes stories told directly by the members themselves about the music and cherished moments they’ve created over the past 10 years. A spectacular finale to Red Velvet’s 10th Anniversary celebration! A concert film that beautifully captures the precious memories shared between Red Velvet and ReVeluv over a decade – a treasure to hold onto forever.
I’ve been a fan of Red Velvet since their debut in 2014 so I was so glad to see this film in theatres. It made me a bit emotional and happy to see their concert footage along with some behind the scenes clips of their time as a group. I liked how the documentary was part concert and part reflection as each member expressed their reflections on being in the industry, working together as a group, how their bond has strengthened, and their individual career growth. The group has come a long way in a industry where most girl groups don’t survive past the 10 year mark. Their dedication to music and artistry that they put into each release has made such a impact.
Caribbean Summer

A news producer heads to the Caribbean for relaxation, only to fall victim to a rental scam. Serendipitously, she befriends the real owner and discovers fun and romance.
I love me some Hallmark movies and I so appreciate that we are starting to get some new faces in these movies. I wanted a light summery movie watch, plus I enjoyed Ser’Darius Blain in another Hallmark film so I decided to give it a watch. Though the plot is formulaic, the real treat on screen is the chemistry between the romantic leads and the cast of characters feeling fleshed out. I loved seeing the community represented in the film and how the plot lines developed over the course of the story.
Naked and Afraid

In `Naked and Afraid’, two complete strangers – a man and a woman – meet in a very unique way: They’re stranded in a dangerous, desolate location, without food and water, and they’re completely naked. Each episode follows the two as they attempt to survive on their own, with nothing but one personal item each and the knowledge that the only prize is their pride and sense of accomplishment. Because there is no other choice, the couple quickly get to know each other – and their surroundings – and hope that their instincts, survival skills and intestinal fortitude serve them well.
I haven’t watched much TV shows lately as the world news has been weighing heavy on my mind so I’ve been delving deep into reality TV. One of my favorites to watch is Naked and Afraid. I’m not much and outdoors/nature specialist or person, but I love to watch challenge based shows that put people’s varying skills to the test. It’s suspenseful and I learn about different places around the globe. The show focuses on authentic survival challenges rather than prize money. Most contestants often cite personal growth and pride as their main motivation to complete each challenge. It’s a very engaging show!

Halloween Thrifting
Kelsweetie is one of my favorite Halloween content creators. I think she makes some great points about seasonal décor and using thrift stores (and shopping sustainability) in general. I think this video is also a good reminder to continue to thrift stores, estate sales, Halloween events, small business, even eBay. Shop local!
The Death of 24 America
In this video essay, Diana talks about the loss of late night businesses in the USA and the slow death of the 24 hour city and the effect it has had on society and culture through criminalizing existing at night. I definitely have noticed an increase of this over the years especially when I travel and am looking for food and all the restaurants are closed. I feel a huge shift in late night culture.
Music
Brick by Brick by Say Now
Yes! Bring back the girl group in the West! Say Now are a British girl group from London consisting of members Ysabelle Angeli, Amelia Onuorah and Madeleine Haynes. They were formed in 2022. I love the Y2K sound and vibes in the song and music video. It’s a catchy song with a fun dance that pays homage to 2000s girl groups.
Welcome To The Disco feat. Macross 82-99 by Yung Bae
Yung Bae, the stage name of producer Dallas Cotton, is a Los Angeles-based DJ known for his future funk and post-vaporwave mixes. I love me some Disco funk and this is one of my favorite songs by Yung. I’m sad I missed his most recent tour stop here as it would have been such a good concert. This song puts me into a instant dance mode.

I watched the third (latest) season of The S** Lives of College Girls in June; it was just the kind of silly, light-hearted show I needed as a break from the real world. At the beginning of June, I finished up my spring reading and about the middle of the month I started into some summer reads (whatever that means lol). I think it’s so funny you are already making Hallowe’en plans, but, also, I kinda figured you would be.
