March Book Haul: The “Oops I Did It Again” Edition
Hello everyone! It’s a brand new month and it’s time for a book haul. I titled this edition “Oops I Did It Again”, because I broke my book buying ban. Last month it was my birthday, but this time there’s no excuse. I just can’t resist a good deal on books.
Sadly, the reason I accumlated so much is that one of my favorite local indie bookstores (that I’ve been shopping at for years) went out of business. 🙁 I’m really sad to lose another local bookstore. I got most of the books listed for $1 each. Some went to friends as gifts, some were donations for local library (to add to their collection), and some I snagged for a future giveaway (you’ll see soon). Anyways, the struggle not to buy books is very real.
But on the positive, I’ve cut way back on checking out too much stuff at the library. I went from 50 items to under 20 items, which is a huge an accomplishment for me. It’s helped me to focus and tackle my immediate TBR a lot easier. While I did intake a lot of books, I’ve been balancing it out with donating the books that I’ve plucked off my bookshelf to make more space. It feels great!

Seoul Man by Frank Aherns – Since I’m learning about Korean culture, I’m always curious to see what his experience was like visiting the country.
A Different Kind of Daughter: The Girl Who Hid from the Taliban in Plain Sight by Maria Toorpakai
Breathless by Beverley Jenkins – A new addition to my Jenkins collection, now time to start reading her books!
Lady Pirate by Lynsay Sands – Lynsay writes some amazing historical fiction so I’m glad I got my hands on a copy.
Into The Fire: A Night Prince Novel by Jeaniene Frost – So far I’m really enjoying this Night Huntress spinoff series, every book gets better!
Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover by Sarah MacLean
China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour – This was partially a cover buy, but I’ve also seen this book floating around the blogosphere.
The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

Blood Bound (Chicagoville Vampires #13) by Chloe Neill – It’s the final book in the series! *sobs* No I don’t want it end!

Thanks Lilly! It’s so sad to lose local bookstores, I love shopping at them. Though I love buying books online, nothing can replace the experience of shopping at physical bookstore. I hope you enjoy “The Girl Who Hid…”, I’m getting into reading more memoirs these days and this one looks very interesting.

So sorry that your indie store going out of business. My local B&N is shutting down, which saddens me because it’s the closest store on my usual route and one of my favs. I guess I’ll frequent indie stores now.
Thank you! That sucks that your B&N is shutting down, it feels like (big & local) bookstores are becoming further apart. All of the closest B&N’s are about a 30 min drive, not too horrible, but it’s frustrating when I come looking for something specific and never find it. Hopefully there a quite a bit of indie stores closer to you.

The Shades of Magic trilogy is amazing!!! Keep in mind the first book is a lot of world building and set up for the series, so it is slower paced. The next two books are super fast paced and action packed.
Thanks Amanda! I keep saying that I’ll start the Shades of Magic trilogy soon, but I keep getting distracted by other shiny books. I’m also super excited about the The Forbidden Wish so hopefully I’ll get to it by summertime? I love donating books, I have way too many, so I like to give back as much as I can. 🙂
