Today’s Video: 2016 Livonia Public Library Summer Reading Program … Parkour!

This week’s edition of Booktube Bites combines library with parkour as the Livonia Public Library (located in Michigan) shows how they kick off this year’s summer reading program. In the video a boy walks up to librarian to inquire about books that are great for summer reading. What happens next is an amazing four minutes of “librarian” parkour as they all try to search for the perfect book.

I love how creative and innovative this video is! It gives attention to local libraries as well as get people excited for their summer reading programs. Programs like these are great for readers of all ages and it also encourages people to step away from their electronics and do a little more reading. At my local library they have different events for all ages that coincide with the summer reading program and they also give out some nice prizes as well.

Question of the Week: Do you participate in your local library’s summer reading program? Why or why not?

  1. I live so far from my city’s main library (located downtown), so I forget to go to all their awesome events. I really should be trying to be visit more often. I live in Austin, TX and we have an amazing library 🙁
    Thanks for reminding.

  2. Lmao! That video is awesome. Cracked me up! Macbeth! Lol!!!
I don’t participate but I usually look at the list of recommended summer reads.
