Book Tag Thursdays: A New Regular Segment

blank-red-tag-hi

Hi Readers!

So for a while I’ve been brainstorming and coming up with new idea for regular segments, I finally have my first one: Book Tag Thursdays! For this segment I will find awesome book tags throughout the vast, wide inter-webs and complete mini-challenges. I’ll hope you’ll have fun and participate with me as well! Leave your own answers in the comments or write your post and link it back to me. (You are also free to use the picture if you’d like, just credit me)

Today’s topic: The Book Tag

Credit goes to: Reveries of A BookwormΒ (I found it through her blog, but I’m not sure who started the tag first)

What is your favorite book?

*Thinks super hard*… Honestly, that is the hardest thing you could ask a bibliophile. I have so many favorites so it’s really hard to pick just one?

Who is your favorite author?

Hmm.. I don’t have a top favorite, but some of my favorite regular reads are by Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Rachel Caine, Chloe Neill, and Janet Evanovich; just to name a few. I honestly don’t know why I don’t read more from male authors. (I probably should to balance it out)

What Genre do you prefer?

I like mystery, romance, paranormal, and dystopian fiction. There are the types of genres I gravitate to when I’m looking for something to read, but I’m not limited to it.

What is your favorite series?

Another hard question…Lots of favorites, but honestly it’s gonna be “Vampire Academy” by Richelle Mead. The characters, story, setting, just everything. I have read the books over and over. Plus it probably helps that I got to meet her in person. πŸ™‚

What books did you hate reading inΒ  school?

I enjoyed most of the classic literature I read in school. But I absolutely can’t stand “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, “As I Lay Dying” by William Faulkner (it’s so morbid),Β  and “Dandelion Wine”/”Something Wicked This Way Comes” by Ray Bradbury.

What is the first book you remember reading as a child?

Well… if we’re talking about when I was little, “Goodnight Moon” was one of my favorite bedtime reads.

Bookstores or libraries?

Both πŸ™‚

How many books do you own?

Haha! Probably about a hundred or so. I don’t remember the last time I took a count of my book collection.

Do you read before you go to bed?

Of course!

What is your most comfortable reading position?

Sitting on my bed, with a large pillow cushion (it’s so comfy!).

What is the most recent book you read?

“Nat Turner” – Kyle Baker

What quotes from any book will you never forget?

“Mrs. Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself”- Virginia Woolf

Didn’t particularly care for the book,Β  but the quote stuck with me.

Science fiction or fantasy?

Fantasy!

What book do you regret reading?

“Pride and Prejudice”. Wasn’t my choice since it was for a class.

How large is your bookshelf?

I have multiple bookshelves, but they all have three shelves each.

On average how many books do you read per year?

30-50 books. I’m a student so school keeps me pretty busy.

What book can you read hundreds of times and never get tired of?

Vampire Academy.

Do you like to read outside?

Yes, but more so in the fall when the bugs aren’t out as much. Somewhere preferably with a park bench.

What the biggest lesson you’ve learned from a book.

Always be yourself.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Of the past year, what it the greatest book you’ve read (includes some from last year and this year)?

“City of Bones”- Cassandra Clarke, “The Color Purple”- Alice Walker, “Grave Mercy”- Robin LaFevers, “The Forest of Hands and Teeth”- Carrie Ryan.

Tag you’re it! What are you own answers?

  1. Hi Rachel! Chris Wooding is my favorite author! I have quite a few of his books. They’re all awesome :). I plan on reading Vampire Academy soon! One of my favorite books is Walk Two Moons, its a simplier read but I’ve liked it since i was younger.
Keep up the good blog work! πŸ™‚

      1. The books I have by him are The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray, Poison, Storm Theif, Kerosene, and the Braided Path Trilogy :). They’re all sort of fantasy/sci-fi ish, except for Kerosene.
