Today’s Topic: Burn, Rewrite, or Reread Tag

Found At: Shanayah @ The Scarlet Bookkeeper

THE RULES:

-Randomly choose 3 books.(You can use the ‘Random’ option on your Goodreads read shelf.)
-For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread.
-Repeat until you completed three rounds.

Round 1

Burn: Erasing Time by C.J.Hill – This dystopian novel about two sister that are transported to the future had great promise, but quickly fell into the all too familiar tropes. It was enjoyable, but way too predictable.

Rewrite: The White Rose (The Lone City #2) by Amy Ewing – I felt that this book was a very good sequel to the first book in the series, but was lacking in some parts of the plot. I wanted a little bit more from it.

Reread: While We Collided by Emery Lord – This was such a fantastic book and I like how Lord explored mental illness among a coming of age plot. While this book does have romance, I appreciated that it didn’t romanticize mental illness.

Round 2

Burn: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell – This is actually a cute book and it wasn’t half bad. But compared to the other two books in this round, it doesn’t fare well.

Reread: Passion, Betrayal, and Killer Highlights (Sophie Katz #2) by Kyra Davis – This is one of my favorite mystery series of all time. The Sophie Katz books are fun, action-packed, and full of thrills! It’s my go-to series!

Rewrite: A Mercy by Toni Morrison – I loved this book a lot, so the only reason I would say that I would like a rewrite is that I wished it could be longer. I wanted Morrison to explore more of the characters backgrounds.

Round 3

Rewrite: Street of Eternal Happiness by Rob Schmitz – This book was interesting, but it had a tendency to go from being intriguing to being really dry. I felt that there needed to be a better balance of the stories, history, and cultural background that was being told.

Reread: Friday Night Bites (Morganville Vampires #2) by Chloe Neill – One of my top favorite fantasy series!Morganville books are an automatic reread for me!

Burn: Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella – Though this book was fun to read, it’s probably one of my least favorite out of Kinsella’s standalone novels. I prefer her other standalone books such as I’ve Got Your Number.

  1. I agree about the Morison novel. Her flow is outstanding and it does leave you wanting more. I haven’t read this one but I have read HOME and THE BLUEST EYE and loved them both.
