What I’m Listening To… My Favorite Musicals Pt.2

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In my segment “What I’m Listening To” I share some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist consisting of five tracks.

I love musicals with all my heart! There’s something about people spontaneously bursting out into song that makes me happy! Since I have so many favorites (too many to count) this is only part two of my top musical picks! Enjoy! (Click here for part one)

1) A Million Miles Away from Aladdin

I loved this musical so much when I saw the show on tour 2019, and I’ve been listening to the soundtrack ever since. The musical was a fun show and I loved the blend of original tracks with music from the movie. Genie stole the show!

2) Rewrite The Stars from The Greatest Showman

I loved how this movie was a period musical, but the music was contemporary I enjoyed the message of pursuing your dreams and how everyone comes together as one to have their time to shine, despite how society shuns them.

3) In My Dreams from Anatasia

I finally got to see this music live when it stopped near my city on the US tour. Though it was based off of the animated movie, I was very impressed how they translated to a Broadway show. The original songs were amazing and the costume designs were gorgeous.

4) The Room Where It Happens from Hamilton

Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius by weaving catchy lyrics, hip-hop music, and history all together in one musical. I am so impressed on how the cast conveys storytelling through the music and pulls the listener into the story from beginning to end. Hopefully, I’ll get to see the show live one day!

5) I Feel Pretty from West Side Story

West Side Story is such a classic musical that everyone should watch. It’s a modern version of Romeo and Juliet that has a lot of heart and tragedy in in. The songs are memorable and I like the story’s commentary on society’s issues.

I hope you enjoyed this playlist! What are some of your favorite musicals? Comment below! 😀

  1. I am so so so SO excited about the remake of West Side Story that’s coming out soonish. I love that effing musical — I remember being really little and my mom telling me the whole plot of it, and I was SO excited to finally be old enough to watch it for real. These are all great choices! I haven’t seen Anastasia yet but I am hoping to at some point!

    1. Oh! A West Side Story remake? I haven’t heard about that one, but it sounds promising. Anastasia is a pretty good adaptation of the film that manages to has it’s own unique spin on the story.
