Slice of Life: Spooky Season Wrap-Up

Halloween season is over which means I’m already transitioning over into Christmas mode, lol. I did manage to get out more this Halloween season and check out some local events this year! Though it’s been a particularly rainy Autumn season, I’m glad it didn’t rain when I did go to these events. Here are some of my highlights of Halloween 2021 and how I celebrated throughout the season.

Beetlejuice Shadowcasting Show

At the beginning of October, I went to my first ever Shadowcasting show. Shadow Casts are actors that act out the entire movie or in some cases directly in front of the screen. For this show, the actors acted out all of the scenes of Beetlejuice in real-time including props and special effects. This movie is one of my Halloween favorites and the show was so good. It was such a fun time!

Halloween Stroll at Canterbury Village

This is my second year attending this event and I was so thankful it wasn’t raining this time. Sadly, no candy was passed out this year, but I did get a free donut from a local cider mill. This a fun outdoor event for all ages and you get to walk through a long winding pathway full of amazing Halloween displays and you can check out some local small shops along the way. One of my favorites was the intricately carved pumpkins that feature celebrities, cartoon characters, and more!

Halloween Baking

I didn’t get to cook as many Halloween treats as I have liked to, but I did go to a small gathering where I made these Hocus Pocus-themed spell book brownies. I got the idea from Instagram and they came out nicely!

What were some of your highlights from Halloween? Did you get to do anything fun? Let me know in the comments! And as always you can follow me on my Instagram page to see my bookish adventures, life stuff, and current reads.
