Slice of Life: Spring Wrap-Up 2026
Spring has come to an unofficial end with Memorial Day weekend that just passed in the states! We’re diving headfirst into Summer with sunny days and hot weather. Here are some of my highlights from Spring 2026.
Author Talk with Sadeqa Johnson

This author talk with Sadeqa Johnson was so engaging the entire time. I learned about the writing process for her historical fiction novels. I appreciate that her novels feature strong storytelling, layered female characters, and parts of history that are often overlooked.
& Juliet

&Juliet jukebox musical that reimagines the classic tale, asking what would happen if Juliet survived Romeo and started a new life. If you enjoy iconic pop tunes from artists like Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, and more you’ll like this show. It’s a fun retelling that is silly and fun!
Author Talk With Elle Wright & Beverly Jenkins

A fun author talk at the Detroit Public Library with the Queen of Historical Romance, Beverly Jenkins, and (new to me) Romance author Elle Wright. Both ladies were the absolute sweetest! I enjoy their discussion about their books and the ins/outs of the publishing industry and what’s like to be a romance author.
TWICE This is For Tour

I have been a ONCE since TWICE’s debut in 2015 so getting a change to see them in concert felt like a full circle moment. I went with some good friends of mine as we had such a fun time. The 360 stage was so cool and the setlist covered new and old songs from their discography!
Nocturnal Monroe

This gothic coffee shop has been on my list to visit since last year and I finally got to stop by. It was the perfect way to celebrate Halfway to Halloween. The atmosphere was so cozy and I loved my Pushing Up Daisies drink I got off their Springoween menu. I definitely want to go back and try more of their menu.
Bruno Mars The Romantic Tour

Bruno!!!! This is the second time I’ve seen Bruno Mars in concert (I think it was 2007?) and I took my mom as a Mother’s Day gift. Though the camera quality was bad (because of the smoke machines in the show), the view of the concert was great. Bruno really put on a show and took a great selection of songs from his discography including with Anderson Paak as Silk Sonic. Leon Thomas was a great opener!
Author Talk with Naima Simone

Thank you again to the Detroit Public Library for hosting their author series. This was such a fun event and I laughed so much the entire time. Naima and the moderator Raena were hilarious. It was cool to learn about her dipping her toes into a new sub romance genre and I can’t wait to read The Hunstman this summer~
Ampers&One Born To Define Tour

I missed Ampers&One the last time they came around on tour in 2025, so I’m happy I could go to this concert. This show definitely solidified my status as a fan as I was a casual listener to the group before. They put on a high energy show and the crowd kept that energy the entire time too. I felt like you could really see their personalities shine on stage and look forward to more music from them.
