My Favorite Things is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. I hope you enjoy these personal picks!

Movies

You, Me, & Tuscany

Anna impulsively jets off to Tuscany, Italy, to stay at a stranger’s villa without permission. Caught inside the house by the man’s mother, she convinces the woman that she’s his fiancée. That little lie soon becomes a big problem when Anna develops a growing attraction to the stranger’s handsome cousin.

You, Me & Tuscany had me smiling and laughing from ear to ear. This is the type of rom-coms that we are missing from the big screens and we need more of them. I loved the easygoing nature of the plot, the chemistry between Halle and Rene was so good, and I loved the lush cinematogrpahy throughout the film. Besides it being a romance, I loved that it was also a film that showcased the power of food and a journey of self-dscovery. Highly recommend!

Michael

The story of pop superstar Michael Jackson — from his extraordinary early days in the Jackson 5 to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fuels a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.

Growing up in the birthplace of Motown means that Michael’s music was always playing in my home. Now that it’s confirmed there will be a sequel to this film to continue the story, I think they did a great job of capturing how Michael came up in the music industry and his journey to find his individuality among being in a family band for most of his youth. His nephew, Jafar, did an amazing job, along with the rest of the cast of bringing the story to the screen. I’m curious how they will tackle the next chapter of his career in the next installement.

TV

Pursuit of Jade

A humble woman marries a disgraced noble to protect her family, but as their love becomes real, she follows him into battle to fight for their future.

Scrolling through Netflix, I happened upon this drama and my mom and I decided to do a buddy watch of this show. Rather than bingethrough episodes at a fast past, we’re slowly making our way through the series. The cinematography is gorgeous and the characters are interesting too. The plot seems familiar, but the slow twist and turns in each episode is keeping our interest for sure. I think what stands out to me the most about this series so far is how gorgeously it’s shot and the chemistry between the characters.

How Car Culture Stole America’s Freedom

I’ve been an avid watcher of The Financial Diet and this video mirrors some thoughts I’ve been having about the economic impact of car culture on individuals. I’m grateful to have a car, but it wasn’t until I owned one that I realized it’s full impact on my finances. I do wish that public transportation throughout my area in the US were better so that I could utilitze it more and save money.

Music

Feel It Too by Min Jiwoon

Min Jiwoon is a singer-songwriter who is at SM Entertainment. She’s written song popular songs, but this is the first track that I’ve listened to by her. It’s a smooth R&B track that really showacases her vocals. It’s so catchy!

Mind Trick by Jamie Cullum

An older track from British singer Jamie Cullum, who’s rich and velvet tones I love to hear in his music. This song has a groovy, but overall chill vibe to it. I like that his music has a song for every mood that your in, from yearning ballads to peppy pop tunes.

Roses (Now’s The Time) by Estelle

Estelle is one of my favorite singers that I don’t talk about to much about on this blog. Since I’m so behind in music releases, I missed out her lastest album. Roses is such a funky and uplifitng disco track that makes me want to dance everytime I listen to it.
