My 2021 Reading Challenges!

It’s a brand new year, so it’s time to pick new reading challenges. I’ve talked about some challenges in a previous post, but I’ve narrowed down the list and picked out which ones I’ll join for 2021. Here are my picks for this year!

The Goodreads 2021 Challenge

Last year I set a goal for 150 books and was able to complete it! This year I challenge myself to read 180 books. This will prompt me to read no matter how busy things get throughout the year and to challenge myself to make time for reading every day!

In the Reading Women challenge you can complete as many challenges as you can. The goal is to encourage you to read widely and this year they are focusing on reading international authors (authors from countries other than your own). I love the prompts for this challenge! No set number goal for this challenge, but I hope I can complete all 24 prompts.

This is a challenge I’ve tried in the past. All you have to do is read a book that’s been translated from any language into the language of your choosing. I’m aiming for the conversationalist level which is 4-6 books. Hope I can complete this challenge!

I’m super excited to take on these challenges! I’ll be updating my progress as I go along through these challenges, and if you’d like to see the books I’m reading you can take a look at the Reading Challenges tab on my website.

Are you participating in any Reading Challenges for 2021? Let me know what your personal reading goals are for 2021!

    1. Thanks! I’m not too familiar with the Discworld novels but good luck! It would be fun to do a series reading challenge. Good for for 2021! Also if you’d like we should continue our buddy read of the Diviners series. 🙂

  1. Those are all great challenges! I’m most tempted by the Read Women challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing what translated books end up in your stacks! One of my personal reading goals is to continue to read more books about climate change, and the environment which I started to do later last year. Now I’m reading Harriet Washington’s book A Terrible Thing to Waste, which is more pollution than climate change but it all feels interconnected.

    1. Good luck with your 2021 reading goals! I just posted a TBR of translated works that I might read on IG. The Read Women challenge should be fun too. I’m going to try look on my own bookshelves for the prompts and hopefully tackle some backlist reads.

  2. Challenges sound like fun. I’m doing the ones for Rebel Women Lit, Black Prose Club, and The Free Black Women’s Library. I don’t usually complete the challenge, but it’s fun to do.
