6 TV Shows To Watch During Autumn

I love watching TV shows, especially cozy ones that fit the brisk temps of the Autumn season. I’ve seen so many over the years, but here are some picks of shows that I’ve enjoyed and recommend for anyone looking to add some shows to their seasonal watchlist.

Over the Garden Wall

A miniseries that centers on two half-brothers who travel across a strange forest in order to find their way home, encountering odd and wonderful things on their journey.

I loved the animation style, plot, characters, and even the songs. What I enjoyed most about Over the Garden Wall is that it’s a clever animated series that reminded me of shows such as Gravity Falls. The story is layered with sub-plots, viewers must decipher a mystery, and it has some deep metaphors as well. Ultimately, the show is just one big adventure, and each episode brings new surprises.

Halloween Wars

Teams of cake decorators, candy-makers and pumpkin carvers compete to see who can make the biggest, wildest and spookiest edible Halloween creations.

As I chatted about recently on the blog, I love baking shows! Halloween Wars is one of my seasonal favorites as you get to watch the bakes craft creepy, but delicious concoctions in the kitchen. Just seeing all the creative ideas they come up with is so enthralling. It makes me want to up my baking game.

Bates Motel

A contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.

If you’re looking for a cozy, but spooky show Bates Motel is worth the watch. It’s more horror than cozy to be honest, but the scenery, cool tones of the cinematography, and wardrobe are enough to immerse the reader into the Autumn season. This show is a thrilling watch full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Charmed

A group of sisters discover they are witches. Luckily for the world, they’re of the good variety. Banding together in their ancestral home in San Francisco, they work together to fight evil, with each having a specific special power. Although outwardly they are average women, with jobs, relationships and friends, they are also powerful witches, but when they work together, their powers are enhanced. As The Charmed Ones, their destiny is to protect innocents from evil.

Charmed is a classic (I’m referring to the original, not the reboot) for supernatural themed TV shows. It’s sometimes eerie, but for the most part very lighthearted. It’s full of fun magical special effects and watching the sisters grow in their powers but also strengthen their bond is the heart of the show.

The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell

Part cooking show, part sitcom in the vein of the Addams Family and the Muppet Show set inside the enchanted home of Christine McConnell, who has attracted hundreds of thousands of social media followers with her creepy edible creations.

This is another seasonal watch that is perfect for Halloween season specifically. Christine and her friends’ banter made me laugh and style throughout this spooky fun show. A combination of a DIY show and scripted reality, the show deals feels fresh and unique.
