Tea Time Review: Celestial Seasonings Mandarin Orange Spice

Hello fellow readers and tea drinkers! Welcome to another edition of Tea Time Review where I try various types of teas and share my thoughts about them. To see my most recent tea review, click here.

Will fall just around the corner, I was in the mood for tea with a little more spice. Digging in my cabinets, I was unsure of which tea to try until Celestial Seasonings Mandarin Orange Spice caught my eye.

With its sleek design, colorful box, and flavor description I was excited to try this tea. This particular blend combines the tart and juicy flavor of mandarin oranges with aromatic spices like cloves and coriander. It’s ingredients include: orange peel, hibiscus, roasted chicory, blackberry leaves, chamomile, among other herbal spices.

This tea is caffeine free and its suggested that you should steep the tea 4 to 6 minutes before removing the bag. I ended up brewing the tea for four minutes. During the initial pour I was delighted by the smell the orange spice that filled the air.

Overall Thoughts

Upon tasting the tea I noticed that this blend is part fruity and part Chai-like because of its multiple spices. I enjoyed its warm aroma warm aroma and smooth taste. While some spice teas can be overwhelming with their smells Mandarin Orange Spice was very calming to me. Because the tea is a blend of cloves and oranges you get a good fusion of both scents.

I added sugar because I’m not the biggest fan of spice teas, and I was worried that it would be a bit strong like Chai. Surprisingly the spice was not too strong (for my own taste buds). I would recommend adding sugar for a fruity taste and for more spice to brew tea as is, while steeping it for a longer time.

I feel as if this tea can be enjoyed year-round, but it’s taste is reminiscent of fall for me. Fall teas have multiple spices and drinking this tea reminded me of the season I enjoy so much!  Mandarin Orange Spice is a fantastic blend I would buy again myself or for a friend as gift. It’s one of Celestial Seasonings flavors that you shouldn’t miss.
