My Favorite Things: November

My Favorite Things is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. I hope you enjoy these personal picks!

Movies

Falling For Christmas

A young, newly engaged heiress has a skiing accident in the days before Christmas. After she is diagnosed with amnesia, she finds herself in the care of the handsome cabin owner and his daughter.

It’s Lindsey Lohan’s return to the small screen! Falling for Christmas is such a sweet and funny romantic comedy. It’s formulaic and cheesy but the best way a Christmas Romance should be. I loved the cozy holiday inn setting and the over-the-top comedic aspects which made it fun to watch. Good on-screen chemistry, is very scenic, and has all the seasonal elements to get you in a festive spirit.

Spirited

A musical version of Charles Dickens’ story of a miserly misanthrope who’s taken on a magical journey.

I love a good musical, but when I saw the trailer for Spirited I wasn’t sure what to expect. I ended up enjoying the movie more than I thought I would. It was funny, full of show-stoppers, and incredibly heartwarming. I loved every moment of this and how the plot took a twist in the Christmas Carol story (it gave me some Scrooged vibes). The production value was high-quality and many of the songs are instant earworms. It has a star-studded cast and many of these actors/actresses I had never seen in a musical before. So it was very cool to see them using their musical chops.

NCT Dream The Movie: In A Movie

NCT DREAM present their first film NCT DREAM THE MOVIE : In A DREAM in movie theaters worldwide. The brand-new film features high-energy performances with the seven members captured during their second solo concert, “NCT DREAM TOUR ‘THE DREAM SHOW2 : In A DREAM,” at the iconic Olympic Stadium, the largest stadium in South Korea and the dream venue for music artists. This unmissable event also includes behind-the-scenes footage, exclusive backstage interviews, and a look at the future the members envision away from the stage!

Out of all of NCT’s many subunits, NCT Dream is my favorite. I love to watch documentary movies such as this as it allows fans to get a closer look at how these concerts are put together and the creative input that goes into each performance. On top of all of the stunning performances, I enjoyed the quieter moments the best. I got to learn more about each member and their personality. The documentary was a lot of fun and the movie theatre had fans singing along to all of the songs which made it a fun viewing experience.

TV

Romantic Killer

Living her best single life, romance is the last thing on Anzu’s mind, until a tiny matchmaking wizard suddenly turns her life into a clichéd rom-com.

I feel like this show can best be described as an anti-shojo, as the main character wants nothing to do with romance. I recently reviewed this manga over at Fandom Spotlite and much of what I have read in the first volume is covered in the TV show. It’s short series with 12 episodes (which I still need to finish) but highly entertaining. The show pulls out every romance trope and it’s fun to watch Anzu rebel against every romance trope that’s thrown her way. It’s a show that will make you laugh out loud!

He’s Expecting

When a successful ad executive who’s got it all figured out becomes pregnant, he’s forced to confront social inequities he’d never considered before.

This Japanese Drama series is based on the manga called, Kentaro Hiyama’s First Pregnancy. Both cover roughly the same plot, but I would say that the TV adaptation does a better exploration of the character’s backgrounds and development. The manga is fairly short, so the TV show gets to cover different aspects written in the manga (which I recommend). This show with its themes of a cisgender male pregnancy, asks the question of what if men could get pregnant too. While it’s nowhere near perfect I think the topics of childcare and gender equality are done tastefully. It’s definitely a show that tackles many topics in a short amount of time it starts a lot of discussions after viewing it. The acting was good and overall the show is heartfelt, emotional, and a bit comedic too.

Antifragile by Le Sserafim

Though this rookie group just debuted this year, this song is a step up from their first release. I have played Antifragile too many times to count. The choreography is fun the dance along with and it’s a song that will get you to move. It’s a song about being fearless and resilient. A definite power anthem!

Built for Love by PJ Morton

I discovered PJ Morton’s music last year and am really loving his sound. This R&B track is soothing and feels like chicken soup for the soul. Plus Jazmine Sullivan is also a feature on this track and her PJ’s voices perfectly intertwine. If you enjoy R&B this is one artist you should definitely be listening to!

Wild World by Synae

First of all how cute is this music video?! The Animal Crossing theming and style matches with the playful melody of the track. This song is a mashup of pop and hip-hop and Synae’s vocals are very soothing. It’s a song that will energize you with the upbeat sound and lyrics about living life to the fullest.

  1. Aw, I need to watch Falling for Christmas (and various other of the Christmas movie offerings this year). I did watch A Hollywood Christmas, which was not quite what I expected but was still really cute and sweet.

    1. I’m still catching up on all the new Christmas movies released this year. So many options to choose from. I haven’t watched a Hollywood Christmas yet.

  2. We’ve been watching Ryan Reynolds in the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series (also a highlight though I think we started it in October) so it’s funny seeing him in his real job here!
