My Favorite Things: May

My Favorite Things is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. Hope you enjoy these personal picks!

Movies

Always Be My Maybe

After being unexpectedly dumped by their respective lovers, a man and a woman have a chance meeting at a resort and embark on a unique relationship.

This movie gave me some similar vibes to the 2019 American film of the same title, but I still enjoyed them both for their own separate reasons. They give off different vibes so I feel like both movies can’t be compared overall. This movie was the feel-good romantic comedy I was looking for on a whim. It’s full of many comedic bits some wacky, and over-the-top while other parts are more subtle. It’s a very sweet romance film where I found myself laughing out loud so many times. The supporting cast was hilarious and the two leads were awesome. The two had such chemistry and it felt very natural on-screen.

TV

Nadiya Bakes

Nadiya Hussain rose to fame after winning the sixth series of BBC’s `The Great British Bake Off’ in 2015, and with `Nadiya Bakes’, she returns to BBC2 to share her love of baking with some of her favourite recipes. She travels around the United Kingdom to visit extraordinary bakeries, and responds to emergency call-outs to visit members of the public who are organising a big celebration that requires a tasty bake for a hungry crowd. From everyday treats to indulgent desserts, these are guaranteed to bring a little joy to life.

I love cooking shows, especially anything involving baked goods. I loved watching Nadiya’s other show Time To Eat, and now I’m making my way through episodes of Nadiya Bakes. She has a charming and down-to-earth personality that invited viewers into her cooking space and gets you interested in whatever she’s creating. She also puts some unique spin on traditional recipes that I love. Maybe I will get inspired and try a recipe out.

YouTube

Mozu

I love crafting and recently I’ve been inspired by other crafting videos/photos I’ve seen of mini houses, etc. It’s a project I really want to start on my own. This channel Mozu, posts some incredible miniatures from a book nook to a tiny bar. Seeing how he puts these creations together is so amazing!

The Decline of Shojo Anime

I just happened upon Colleen’s channel this past month and I love her anime/manga content. This video resonated with me because I have noticed a decline in the shojo anime that I grew up with up and how it’s changed over the years. It’s an interesting video that goes in-depth about shojo and its relation to the overall anime industry.

Music

Wonderland by Alexa

So proud of Alexa for winning the American Song Contest! This is a great energetic track that has some cool choreography. It really shows off her skills as a dancer and the lyrics are incredibly catchy!

Good Vibes by HRVY & Matoma

When I think about songs that are mood boosters, this song always comes to mind. It’s fun and has a light-hearted funky melody. It’s a song I enjoy listening to when I drive in my car.

Please Don’t Lean by Daniel Ceasar & BadBadNotGood

I think I’ve gushed about Daniel’s music a few times on the blog, but I have had this R&B Ballad track on repeat lately. It’s soothing and I love his melodic vocals on this song. This is one of my current songs to listen to while working.
