TV

Attack on Titan Season 3

Synopsis: When man-eating Titans first appeared 100 years ago, humans found safety behind massive walls that stopped the giants in their tracks. But the safety they have had for so long is threatened when a colossal Titan smashes through the barriers, causing a flood of the giants into what had been the humans’ safe zone. During the carnage that follows, soldier Eren Jaeger sees one of the creatures devour his mother, which leads him to vow that he will kill every Titan. He enlists some friends who survived to help him, and that group is humanity’s last hope for avoiding extinction at the hands of the monsters.

Season 3 was such a whirlwind! I feel like each season gets more intense and I’m glad that some of the questions about the Titans I had in the beginning of the show are finally being answered. I like the attention to detail in the storytelling and world building in this series. Just when you think you know where the story is going, another plot twist is added to the mix. It’s an intense show that is scary and thrilling. Season 3 ends on a cliffhanger so I’m curious to see what the next season will be like.

Possessed

Synopsis: Kang Pil-Sung works as a detective. His instincts as a detective are excellent and he is foul-mouthed. Kang Pil-Sung is both lazy and rough, but he is also soft hearted.mHong Seo-Jung has excellent psychic mediumship, but she tries to hide her ability. This causes Hong Seo-Jung to keep a distance from other people and she lives a lonely life.

While Kang Pil-Sung investigates a case, he happens to meet Hong Seo-Jung. Kang Pil-Sung feels that she is different from others and takes an interest in her. They begin to solve cases together using their special abilities.

I love a good thriller/detective mystery show and this one is interesting because of it’s supernatural twist. Mix two people who have psychic abilities, great on-screen chemistry (I love the banter between the two leads), and a serial killer case and it makes for a interesting show. The show uses darker lighting techniques to give the cinematography an ominous vibe and it keeps the tone of the plot. I’m only four episodes into this drama, but so far it’s really good.

Movies

Stonehearst Asylum

Synopsis: A new employee at a mental hospital becomes attracted to one of his colleagues, but he is unaware of a recent, horrifying change in staff.

This movie has been in my Netflix queue forever, and I finally got a chance to watch it. It’s thriller period drama where nothing is at is seems. The viewer isn’t really sure which character is telling the truth, so while watching the film you’re constantly trying to piece the puzzle together. The film has some notable actors who do such a great job of playing the characters. The ending threw me for a loop!

Ralph Breaks The Internet

Synopsis: Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet — the netizens — to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.

I meant to watch this movie when it came out last Fall, but never got a chance to. I adored the first movie so much and I loved the nostalgic feeling it gave me when reminiscing about old arcade games. The sequel wasn’t as strong as the second one, but I loved how it poked fun at all the sectors of the internet. It also gave some food for thought about the downsides of the web, the meaning of friendship, and finding yourself.

Music

Stand By You by Hige Dandism

As I’ve been listening to more J-Pop lately, I’ve found this band to be one of my newer favorites. Where have I been?! Hige Dandism has such talented members, catchy songs, and solid vocals. I love Stand by You because of the upbeat melody and cute lyrics.

Symphony by Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larson

This song is such a great collaboration dance track. I like that it’s a mixture of pop and electronic music. It’s a song that I can move along to and I always find myself singing along. I also enjoy how meaningful the lyrics are.

Webtoon

Cursed Princess Club

Synopsis: Meet Gwendolyn – living proof that princesses don’t always have it all. See, although she lives in a castle and her father is the King, Gwendolyn isn’t like a movie princess, or even a fairly-tale princess. She’s got a big heart, but isn’t particularly attractive and doesn’t have a Disney-quality singing voice. But one night, she accidentally stumbles upon the twisted world of the Cursed Princess Club, and her life will never be the same. Hexed and cast out, the ladies of the club are just the people Gwendolyn needs to show her that just because she doesn’t “fit the mold” does not mean she’s any less of a princess.

This webtoon had me laughing from the very first chapter. It’s a story about finding the beauty inside and loving yourself. Gwendolyn has such a big heart and I love how supportive her sisters (and family) are of her. Through joining the Cursed Princess Club she and other members learn to be more confident. It’s funny and heartwarming!

Beauty

Nature’s Republic Bamboo Charcoal Mask

This mask was a gift I received way back on my birthday and I love it. I find that most charcoal masks tend to be a bit rough on the skin, but this one was very gentle. It always leaves my skin feeling smooth.

Thayer’s Witch Hazel Unscented Toner

For those that have sensitive skin, this is a good product to try. I love using toners in my skincare routine and this one helps clear the skin up even after my facial cleanser.
