Indie Bookstores to Visit in Metro Detroit Pt.4

Hello everyone! I love visiting independent bookstores and shopping at local businesses regularly. Because it’s important to #shopsmall, here are some bookstores in the Metro Detroit area that you should visit when you’re here. Some of these shops have websites that you can shop at as well if you can’t shop in person! (Previous List Here)

Paperback Writer Books

Paperback Writer Books located in Mount Clemens is a bookstore that see used and new books. They have quite a selection of books to choose from and there is even a record store adjacent to the bookstore. They sell used books in great conditions at very good prices. Though small this bookstore has quite the cozy atmosphere.

27th Letter Books

27th Letter Books is a store that carries new, general interest books that are carefully curated to highlight underrepresented voices. Located near the Corktown area of Downtown Detroit, this bookstore carries books and board games (in the lower-level basement area). They have many bookish events, an Ampersand Book Club, and very friendly staff. I love the unique book displays and layout of the shop!

Sidetrack Bookshop

Sidetrack Bookshop is an independent bookstore curating new books in Royal Oak. This is a bookstore where you can easily find yourself getting lost in the stacks from books written by local Michigan authors to the hottest releases hitting the shelves. They carry many genres and even cool bookish themed items which I bought as Christmas gifts last year.

Read it Again Books

Read it Again Books is new and used bookstore offering great discounts located in Novi, Michigan. They also sell Leaning’ Tree cards, bookmarks, and other book-related items. Their Romance section was huge! (And my favorite part of the store) They have a lot of books to choose from and many colorful and eye-catching displays.

Stay tuned for part five! What bookstores do you like to visit in your area?

  1. Lovely! We have The Heath Bookshop right in my suburb, 7 minutes’ walk away from me, which is a gem and has a great curated stock while being able to order in pretty well anything.

    1. That’s awesome. I wish I lived down the street from a bookstore, but if I did I’m pretty sure my wallet would be crying, lol.

  2. I love learning about bookstores in other cities! I’ll be sure to visit these if I ever find myself in Detroit! We spend most weekends exploring bookstores in our area so I’ve been enjoying highlighting them on my blog
