Today’s Video: The Bookmobile

This week’s video is a touching animated short about the power of books. The Bookmobile tells the story of Storm Reyes, who grew up in migrant labor camps. Storm talks about her first experience with the Bookmobile and how it changed her life.

Watching this video was heartwarming to me. I’ve never been to a bookmobile before, but I and others can probably remember their first reading experience that opened their horizons. Since becoming an avid reader from a young age I have gained more knowledge of the world, traveled to places I only could imagine in my dreams, and met such amazing readers like me!

Question of the week: Have you ever had a bookmobile come to your city or town? If so, what was your experience like?

Have a great weekend and make sure to cozy up with a good book! 🙂

  1. Thank you for sharing. The video was so touching.. I got emotional in a sad/happy way near the end.

I never saw a bookmobile or anything like it in my neighborhood, though we could all have benefited from it tremendously. I hope they become increasingly more common in the communities that need them most.

    1. You’re very welcome. It was very touching to me as well. I wish I had a bookmobile growing up too. The video reminded me that I am unbelievably grateful from having books/literature all of my life. Having access to books from a young age really does make a difference.

  2. That was a sweet video. Very encouraging too.
I’ve never seen a bookmobile so I’m always curious when I hear about them.
