Review:

Have you ever read a book and during the entire experience it put a genuine smile on your face? That’s exactly what happened when I read Super Detectives. I went into this book without reading Sir Simon, which features one of the main characters but it didn’t cause any confusion. This book can be read as a standalone, but after reading it I definitely want to go back and learn more about Simon’s origins.

This is an adorable and fun story of two best friends stuck indoors on a rainy day with nothing to do. Then Simon drums up the idea to play a game of super sleuths matching the look and feel of the famous mystery duo Holmes and Watson. I loved watching them work together to piece clues to solve what seemed like a mundane mystery to outsiders, but an adventure for them both. It was a way for them to bond while also sparking their grand imaginations.

While reading this book I was hit with a bit of nostalgia for the days when I used to go on adventures in my backyard or making TVs out of cardboard boxes. The plot is simple but it reminds readers young and old to never stop using our imaginations and discusses problem solving in everyday situations. I love how cute, simplistic the art work is. It really pulls readers into Simon and Chester’s adventures. It was a comical and entertaining story that all readers will enjoy especially the younger crowd.

I can’t wait to see what new mystery these super sleuths take us on next!
