Day 5: Recommend a Tear Jerker

My recommend to you, readers, is My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

This book is incredibly sad! It tells the story of 13-year-old Anna, who litigates her parents for medical emancipation when she is expected to donate a kidney to her sister Kate, who is dying from leukemia.

So basically, in a nut shell, you know that this book is gonna be sad when you’ve only just read the back of the cover. I knew what I was getting into. The book not only focuses on the two sisters, but the mom is included as well. We see that the tension is even there before Anna announces her big decision and when she tells her family it pretty much distances everyone from one another.

You get to see everyone’s feelings playing out throughout the book. Her mom thinks Anna is selfish, her sister is heartbroken, and Anna herself feels like she is trapped/used to give her kidney to her sister.

Anyways, it’s a great read and definite tear-jerker (well, at least for me)! Check it out!
