What I’m Listening To….Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In my segment “What I’m Listening To” I share some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist consisting of five tracks.

With the end of the holidays, winter is now in full swing. This playlist of calm and soothing songs was made to listen to while you’re keeping warm and cozy indoors.

1) Crystallize by Lindsey Sterling

Most of you are probably familiar with YouTuber & musician Lindsey Sterling who is well-known for the fusion of dubstep and electric violin used in her unique songs. Crystallize is one of my favorite sons off her debut album. The music video shows Lindsey dancing and playing her violin through a scenic landscape of ice castles. Though this song is upbeat, I find this and Lindsey’s other songs to be very suitable and I play them in the background often when I’m blogging.

2) Every Time I Turn Around by Joss Stone

Every Time I Turn Around is a R&B song by singer Joss Stone. It is featured on the Vol.2 soundtrack for the popular TV series NCIS. Stone brings her soulful and powerful vocals to this track making its listeners feel the emotional message of the song.

3) High For This by Ellie Goulding

British singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding takes her soprano vocals and makes this cover of The Weeknd song her own. The song has a calm, but mysterious feel to it. It’s one of the best covers of The Weeknd I’ve ever heard, plus I’m a huge fan of Ellie’s voice.

4) Hunter by Morgan James

Hunter is a brassy and sultry R&B track off of Morgan James’ second solo album. You also might recognize this talented singer from the YouTube channel Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ). In 2014-2015 James collaborated with PMJ, producing several cover songs on their YouTube channel and joined them on tour as well.

5) Butterflies by Michael Jackson

Butterflies is a mid-tempo song that’s a part of Jackson’s Invincible album, which is an album that (I feel) often gets overlooked by his other works. The song is Michael Jackson’s last single from a studio album. The track is beautiful ballad that describes the feeling of being in love.

With that last song, that ends this month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To”. What are some of your favorite wintery or soothing songs to listen to? Recommend some tracks in the comment section below! 🙂
