What I’m Listening To… Vintage Holiday Edition

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

This month’s edition of “What I’m Listening To” will supply you with some tunes for the holidays! This month I’m sharing some Christmas songs that I enjoy. A few are long-time favorites and others are quite new to me. It was hard to narrow down this playlist since I have so many favorite Christmas songs, but I did my best! Enjoy the playlist!

Zat You, Santa Claus? by Louis Armstrong

I love how much fun this song is! This lighthearted tune explores the anticipation and excitement children feel on Christmas Eve, wondering whether they might catch a glimpse of Santa Claus himself. The brass melody always gets my toes tapping along with the song.

Run Rudolph Run by Chuck Berry

A rock’n roll christmas song that instantly gets anyone on the dancefloor is Run Rudolph Run. It’s lively gutr, Berry’s energetic vocals are sure to put you in a festive good mood.

Snow from White Christmas

A movie I always recommend for those that enjoy old Hollywood movies is White Christmas. The costumes, plot, and show-stopping musical numbers are sure to entertain you. I love how this song perfectly describes the childlike wonder of snow and how magical it can feel.

Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt

Kitt is an absolute legend. There is something about her raspy vocal style that stands out from other singers of her era. This is a classic Christmas tune with the right amount of sass and flair. I always find myself singing along with this festive song.

Sleigh Ride by Ella Fitzgerald

Ella Fitzgerald’s Christmas album is always on rotation during the holiday season and this rendition of Sleigh Ride is one of my favorites. It’s jazz and her melodic and soulful vocal croons instantly fill you with the holiday spirit.
