What I’m Listening To…Sounds of Spring

what I'm listening to meme

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

In this second edition of “What I’m Listening To” I’m featuring happy, upbeat songs that are perfect for this season. Though the songs are not entirely about the spring itself, they are light-hearted, fun, and will put you in a good mood.

1. Miracle by Kimbra

This track is one of the singles off of Kimbra’s latest album, The Golden Echo. It’s a nice pop track with a 80s vibe and it will definitely have you dancing along with the beat.  The song is about using one’s love to overcome life’s difficulties. In the video, Kimbra can be seen dancing in the streets while wearing a sparkly red dress. Kimbra is severely underrated, and I think she should get so much more attention. Her debut album is amazing!

2. Crazy Amazing by V.V. Brown

My next pick, is a lighthearted pop song from U.K. artist, V.V. Brown. This song, along with other tracks on Traveling Like the Light, have a retro sound and feel to them. The song  is about being in love with someone and has a bouncy, piano melody.

3. Paradise by Ana Laan

Ana Laan is a singer-songwriter born in Madrid, Spain. Paradise is a song off her Chocolate and Roses album and has a Latin sound with vibrant guitar melody. I found this song by random on iTunes a long time ago, and it has easily become one of my favorite songs. This track makes me daydream about going on a tropical vacation.

4. Not Spring, Love, Or Cherry Blossoms by HIGH4 & IU

This song is K-pop rookie group HIGH4’s debut song with popular singer IU. It’s a pop song that talks about expresses the loneliness one feels in spring through its witty lyrics. Not necessarily a anti-love song, but I like how it sets itself apart from typical springtime love songs. Both HIGH4 and IU’s voice blend perfectly on this track and the rap part is definitely an added bonus.

5. Let’s Rock by Chrisette Michele

One of my favorite songs of her Michele’s debut album, I Am. It’s a nice R&B song that is calm enough to listen to while relaxing and upbeat enough to listen to while crusing along in your car. The song talks about letting yourself go, and having a good time.
