What I’m Listening To…It’s The Holiday Season!

what I'm listening to meme

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

The holidays are here! Christmas is just around the corner as colorful lights decorated everywhere, seasonal drinks such as Peppermint Mocha’s have popped up again, and I’m reveling in the holiday spirit. I could easily make of a list including 100 songs since I love Christmas music. Today’s playlist is a variety of fun & happy music to get you in the holiday spirit!

1) Winter Paradise by Destiny’s Child

This track is a part of Destiny’s Child’s holiday album titled 8 Days of Christmas. It’s a nice mid-tempo R&B song that talks about what this season is all about: spending time with family and making memories. The whole album is fantastic and ever since middle school I’ve had it on repeat for every holiday season.

2) Sleigh Ride by Kamin

Another one of my favorites is music duo Karmin delivering a brass-filled pop rendition of the popular song Sleigh Ride. In the video, the duo dances along to the music in stylish winter wear. What’s makes this rendition so much fun is Amy’s (lead vocalist) rap that shows midway through the song, giving it that extra touch. I’ve enjoyed Karmin’s lively performances/videos ever since I discovered them through Youtube and you should definitely check out some of their amazing covers.

3) Christmas Time by Christina Aguilera

To me this is one of Christina’s most solid albums ever released. Her Christmas album is absolute gold and I wish she would record another holiday album. Christmas Time has an upbeat pop sound and feel that will get you moving. Aguilera is definitely not shy in belting out her signature vocal in this holiday track. It’s my favorite song off the entire album.

4) Winter Wonderland/Don’t Be Happy by Pentatonix feat. Tori Kelly

One of my favorite acapella groups Pentatonix takes a spin on this popular Christmas song by mixing it up with reggae song Don’t Worry, Be Happy. Everyone’s vocals really shine in this song and I loved the fact that they collaborated with amazing newcomer Tori Kelly. This song is a more laid back track than the other songs on this playlist and is great to listen to when you’re relaxing.

5) Run Rudolph Run by Ceelo Green

Last on my list is Ceelo’s soul infused rendition of Run Rudolph Run. I like how he adds his own special touch to this well-known song, truly making it his own. This song always makes me want to dance and it’s a great track for any holiday party.

That conclude’s this holiday music playlist. What are some of your favorite holiday/Christmas song to listen to? Recommend some tracks in the comment section below! Happy Holidays! 🙂
