The Coziest Holiday Movie Watching Recommendations

It’s that Holly Jolly time of year and that means Christmas-themed media. I’ll be sharing holiday-themed posts throughout the month of December. Today I’m talking about some cozy movie watching recommendations. Here are some picks that I’ve enjoyed and recommend to you.

Christmas Hotel

A big city hotelier must return to her hometown and restructure the Mt. Holly Inn, which the townspeople are less than thrilled about.

As much as I love Hallmark movies, I love watching seasonal Lifetime movies too. Christmas Hotel seems like a dream location of a holiday themed hotel with all of the trimmings. The setting of the Inn is not only a place for people to stay but overall a cozy experience. It’s got a formulaic plot, but it works with a solid cast and crew. Especially since the stars of this film are all actors/actresses I grew up watching throughout my childhood. It’s a simple film that makes me smile when I watch it.

This is Christmas

Emma and Adam both commute in silence to London each day. One day, Adam invites the whole carriage of regular commuters to hold their own Christmas party.

This film is heartwarming and will leaving the viewing feeling good long after watching it. There is a romance sub-plot within the story but moreover it’s a film about how the holidays brings us together. Alfred Enoch really shines as the leading character of this film and watching him trying to bring strangers from his daily commute together was very endearing. This film has charm, the holiday jolly spirit, and most of all a lesson about being grateful.

That Christmas

A blizzard hits a seaside town, setting off entwined tales of family, friends, love and loneliness – and Santa making a big mistake.

One of the newer animated film for the holiday season that I thought was too cute was That Christmas. I loved the story of a tight-knit community and how the story switches perspectives to show each character’s personal journey. The animation (I won’t lie) was a little underwhelming, but still nice overall. It also touches on some topics around mixed feelings about the holiday season, different types of holiday celebrations, and that being “naughty” is subjective. A good watch for families or someone seeking out a new animated holiday tale.

1000 Miles From Christmas

A Christmas tale, a romantic comedy and the story of a man in his 30s who learns — reluctantly — to get carried away by the Christmas spirit.

I have not laughed as hard as I did with a Christmas movie in a long while like I did with this film. I enjoyed the witty banter between the characters and the use of physical comedy which only added to the film. The idea of a Christmas scrooge that has to work with a town that is obsessed with Christmas was very entertaining. It’s got all the elements of a traditional Holiday film but is a kindhearted and grounded story with memorable characters.

Christmas Full of Grace

Carlinhos is excited to propose to his fiancee, Bebela. When he comes home from work, he finds her in the bathtub with another woman. While trying to flee his apartment building, he runs into Graca. Carlinhos asks Graca to pose as his new girlfriend.

Want a film that is so silly and doesn’t take itself seriously at all? Watch Christmas Full of Grace which takes the romantic trope of fake dating and takes it from 0 to 100 in a matter of minutes. Gessica Kayane is the standout actress of the film way into a rich family’s holiday gathering. She’s loud, unfiltered, and loves to shake things up. The movie can be a bit over the top at times, but it’s a film where you just roll with the punches.

I hope you enjoyed these Holiday themed cozy-watching recommendations. Do you have any favorites that you’ve watched over the years?
