Slice of Life: Summer Wrap-Up!

Summer has come to an end! While I’m sad to see the season go, I’m highly anticipating enjoying the Autumn. It was a hot summer and because of the high temps, I don’t think I did as many outdoor activities as I usually would like to. Here are some of my highlights from Summer 2022.

Frankenmuth

I needed a much-needed mini staycation/vacation, so I traveled to Frankenmuth, in May. Technically this trip happened in the Spring, but I completely forgot to do a Spring wrap-up so I’m writing about it here. It was a much-needed trip where I got some peace of mind. Frankenmuth is a city in Michigan, known for its Bavarian-style architecture and culture. It’s a small tourist spot but it has a small-town charm to it. Of course, no trip to Frankenmuth is complete without a trip to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland (the world’s largest Christmas store) and eating chicken from Zehnder’s.

Though it was a short trip with no real itinerary planned, it was nice to get away from the city for a minute and relax. I did a lot of shopping and just enjoyed being outdoors because the weather was so nice!

Hello Kitty Cafe Pop-Up

For those that know me best, you’ll probably already be familiar with the fact that I am a huge Sanrio fan. So when the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck came to town I couldn’t miss the chance to stop by. This is the second time I’ve been to the pop-up and I had to wait in line for two hours! But because I was there so early I got to snag some gifts for me and my friends before they sold out! I just wished the truck would carry as many baked goods as it does merchandise.

BTS 9th Anniversary Event

I’m a huge K-Pop and BTS fan so I love to go to cup sleeve and other music-themed events around the area. As a giant BTS fan, I was very excited to go to event celebrating the group’s 9th anniversary. I hope I get the chance to see them live again one day! The cafe, Preseo Tea, made BTS tea drinks for the event and the event hosts also gave out good bags and held a raffle. Plus there were a few vendors selling K-Pop merch there too.

Candlelight Concert – Studio Ghibli

This is a fun concert I got to attend for Fandom Spotlite (a website I write for). The RedfordTheatre is such a beautiful historical theatre and the string quartet did an excellent job covering these famous Ghibli tunes. It was such a magical concert.

Eastern Market

I visited the Detroit Book Festival once again this year which is held at Eastern Market (farmers market). I wanted to take pictures of the festival but it was way too crowded. So here are some pictures from their antique market store. It’s so colorful and they always have new vintage items in store. I’m always tempted to buy everything!

  1. What lovely highlights! My summer highlight was my friends Claire and Sam’s wedding, held at a campsite, although we stayed in a hotel. Such a joyful occasion and I was honoured to be asked to take photographs for it. Apart from that, lots of lovely parkruns and a trip to the south coast to see my cousins. Happy autumn! The seasons have definitely changed over here.

    1. What a wonderful summer you had and glad you were able to spend a lot of time outdoors. The temps were so hot this summer that it made it hard to plan outdoor outings. Hope you’re having a great Autumn so far!
