TV

True To Love

Yeon Bo-Ra is a writer and she works under the pen name of Deborah. She is the author of a best-selling book about love and she is also famous as a dating coach. She has made lots of famous sayings as a dating coach and gained sympathy from the public. As Deborah, Yeon Bo-Ra is honest, witty, and popular with women. As Yeon Bo-Ra, things are different for her. She gets involved with Lee Soo-Hyeok.

Lee Su-Hyeok works as a publishing planner. He is an unpredictable man. He is sometimes gentle and passionate to women, but sometimes indifferent and cold. Love is a difficult thing for him. He doesn’t like Deborah, who talks like she knows everything about love, but he unexpectedly gets involved with her and faces a change in his life.

Yoo In-na is one of my favorite South Korean actresses so when I heard she had a new drama out I knew I wanted to tune in. This drama is very good so far (11 episodes in) and follows some K-drama tropes but refreshingly portrays some very real situations. I love the way it explores modern relationships. It’s fun and wacky especially when the two leads Lee Su-Hyeok and Deborah butt heads. A recommended watch for those who enjoy rom-coms.

Movies

The Woman King

In the 1800s, a group of all-female warriors protects the African kingdom of Dahomey with skills and fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen. Faced with a new threat, Gen. Nanisca trains the next generation of recruits to fight against a foreign enemy that’s determined to destroy their way of life.

A fantastic movie from the acting to the action. The film is based on historical events and it was interesting to learn more about the skills of these female warriors. The story and plot were gripping and every moment had me on the edge of my seat. Viola Davis was fantastic in this film! I want to re-watch this again soon.

Rugrats Hits Different As An Adult: Analyzing The Parents

This was a very interesting video that reminds me when I look back at childhood TV favorites I see things through a different lens. It shows that as an adult I empathize and definitely understand the parents of this show more and their complexities. An interesting take on Rugrats!

Blaque 🌙 A Girl Group Retrospective

Blaque is an American girl group that charted from 1999 to 2004. This was a good comprehensive overview of these talented ladies and their careers. Blaque’s legacy can definitely still be felt today in music and I loved their iconic style and sound.

The “Song of the Summer”

Perfect for the season this video discusses the concept of how the summer song, its elements, and some notable Summer songs. I love a good seasonal bop.

Get Down from SIX The Musical

I got to see Six The Musical in June and I love how the show is a pop-style concert infused with a modern take on history. This track was my favorite song from the soundtrack. It’s a powerful anthem that makes me want to dance.

Bring It All to Me ft. *NSYNC by Blaque

Since I watched that Blaque retrospective (video) I’ve been delving into their catalog of music. This collaboration track is one of my favorites and I love the R&B melody. One of the best girl group songs ever!

Leave it On The Dancefloor by Hope Tala

This song is an optimistic ode to the power of dancing your woes away. It’s got a slight Disco melody to it which makes it such a groovy track!
