Summer is my favorite season out of the entire year! Today I’d thought I’d take a break from the bookish and literary topics and talk about some of my favorite things about summer.
1) Smoothie Time!
Personally, I could drink smoothies all year round, but I think they’re best enjoyed in the summer. They come in so many flavors and they are full of healthy nutrients. If I had to chose my favorite smoothie flavor, it would have to be strawberry banana! While I’m still talking about summer drinks I love to drink milkshakes and you can also find me in Seven-Eleven on a weekly basis buying slurpees (they’re addictive). I also love going to Dairy Queen to get a cold malt, blizzards, and many other sweet treats.
2) Hanging By The Pool
I also like to hang out by the pool in the summer time. Nothing beats a cool dip in the pool on a blazing hot day. When I’m not chilling in the pool (I haven’t learned to swim yet, otherwise I would) I also like to curl up with a good book on a beach chair under the shade.
3) Being Outdoors
Though I’m not a huge nature person, I like being outdoors (as most people do) during the summer. Summer is a great time to walk outside, explore your neighborhood, have a picnic and, do so much more! During this season I like to go to outdoor concerts and fairs while indulging in good music and snacking on carnival food such as elephant ears. If you find a quiet place in your local park, lake, beach, it makes a great reading spot.
4) Tasty BBQ
I absolutely love BBQ! It’s just something about cooking meat and vegetables on the grill that makes it so delicious! Cooking the food does take a lot more effort than it looks. It’s fun to eat, but if you’re the chef, then you have to make sure you don’t over-season the meat, cook it too long, and most importantly not to drop the food into the burning charcoal (yes, I have done this a few times). Cookouts are a great way to connect with new and old friends as well as spend quality time with my family.
5) Longer Days
Best of all summer has longer days! The sun is out longer giving you more daylight to enjoy outdoor activities. Having more daylight allows me to have more time to get errands done, clean around the house, and more. I also tend to stay up later than usual during the summer months so I can get some summer reading done, watch movies/tv, etc.And who doesn’t love to eat s’mores by the fire after a long day?
And that concludes my top 5 highlights of summer! What are some of your favorite things about summer? Comment below! 😀
