What I’m Listening To…Wintertime is Here

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

The temperature has dropped and snowflakes fill the air! Winter is here! This time around I compiled five songs centered around the chilly season. Enjoy!

1) Refuge (When It’s Cold Outside) by John Legend

One of my favorite tracks off of Legend’s Get Lifted album. It’s a song about how seeing that special someone can warm up you up on a cold winter day. I love the lyrics and the guitar filled melody!

2) Coldest Winter by Pentatonix

Once again, another amazing acapella track from Pentatonix. I haven’t heard the original version of this song, but I love the arrangement for this cover. The music video goes along perfectly with the music.

3) The Winter Cabin by The Tourist

A beautiful ballad from the The Tourist is my next pick. Their songwriting skills and vocal is why they always end up on my top K-Indie favorites. The song sends a message that says “come to my cabin whenever you feel your life is hard”. I love the metaphor used for this song and the snowy landscape used in the music video.

4) Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Louis Armstrong & Velma Middleton

This song has been covered many times, but there is something truly special about the combination of Louis and Velma’s vocals. I love how jazzy this version is. It’s soothing on the ears, plus their ad-libs throughout the song are sure to give you a laugh.

5) It Snowed by Meghan Smith

For my last song, I chose another jazzy tune called It Snowed. The lyrics are simple, the melody is bouncy, and it’s hard to be in s bad mood after listening to this tune. It accurately describes the scenery on a cold winter day.

That concludes my music picks for songs about winter! Hope you enjoyed this playlist. Comment below and let me know what are your own personal song picks. 🙂
