What I’m Listening To…Summertime Fun!

Hello readers! I love listening to music of all genres on a daily basis. I can’t go a day without popping on some headphones and listening to some upbeat tunes while I dance around my room or relax from a long day by listening to calming songs. In this blog post series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite song picks with you in a mini-playlist of five songs.

If you haven’t guessed it by now, this month’s mini-playlist is full of summer tracks. From songs whose lyrics talk about the blissfully sunny season to tracks that just remind you of a day on the beach, this playlist is full of melodic songs. Enjoy!

1) Summertime by Fantasia

Summertime is a famous song from the well-known musical 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The jazz standard song is recognized as one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music, with more than 33,000 covers over the years. Though I’ve heard many renditions, Fantasia’s soul-infused rendition of the song is by far my all-time favorite. Her vocals shine on this track and she puts so much emotion in the lyrics.

2) Let’s Dance by David Bowie

A song that is sure to get me moving and a track that I adore while cruising in the car is Let’s Dance. This song by the legendary singer Bowie is a great anthem about dancing those blues away. Without a doubt this song always makes me smile and is a definite mood booster. It’s a perfect song for a summer party.

3) Algo Contigo by Rosario

A Latin song that is just right for those sultry summer nights is Algo Contigo by Rosario. Filled with a lovely guitar melody and smooth vocals, this mid-tempo love song is also great for dancing. I love the beautiful lyrics in this song.

4) Hot Summer by f(x)

One of my favorite songs from K-Pop group f(x) is Hot Summer. It’s a great track off of their very first album. The cinematography in the MV is full of vivid colors, the choreography is cute, and the lyrics basically scream “summer fun”. It’s a very poppy song, and the melody makes you feel lighthearted.

5) Jump In The Line by Harry Belafonte

Last, but not least is a song that’s a crowd favorite! Jump in the Line is an upbeat song with a calypso beat that will have you dancing in no time. It’s got such a great melody and Harry’s energetic spirit really shines in the vocals. I’ll never get tired of this song.

That concludes my music picks for songs about summer! Hope you enjoyed this playlist. Comment below and let me know what are your own personal song picks. 🙂
