Only three days before their high school festival, guitarist Kei , drummer Kyoko, and bassist Nozumi are forced to recruit a new lead vocalist for their band. They choose Korean exchange student Son, though her comprehension of Japanese is a bit rough! It’s a race against time as the group struggles to learn three tunes for the festival’s rock concert—including a classic ’80s punk-pop song by the Japanese group The Blue Hearts called “Linda Linda”…

This film is about a group of girls who get together to perform for their school’s festival. It’s as much a film about music as it is about the power of friendship. The lead characters are under a lot of duress to get the songs just right. Due to all of the time they spend together, they put their differences aside to put on an amazing show. It’s a film that is heartfelt, full of laughs, and lots of good music!

Mei Lee is a 13-year-old girl who is torn between being her mother’s obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. As if that were not enough, when she gets too excited, she turns into a big red panda.

Another amazing film from Pixar! This film was so heartfelt and captured the essence of adolescence and being an awkward teenager. Since the film was set close to my teenage years I could relate to the boy bands, 2000s teen fashion, technology (Tamagotchi), and more. It felt like I was watching my teenage self through the lens of this film and I know a lot of other viewers felt the same. Besides the fun and fantasy elements, I loved the rich Chinese culture and how it explored the mother-daughter relationship that evolves at that age as well as the female friendships in the film.

In rural 1977 Georgia, a misfit girl dreams of life in outer space. When a competition offers her a chance to be recorded on NASA’s Golden Record, she recruits a makeshift troop of Birdie Scouts, forging friendships that last a lifetime.

I loved this movie so much. I think the casting was key for each of these characters in the main cast and the directors made the right choices. It’s a fish-out-of-water tale that is much more mature than I thought it would be (judging by the previews). The troop comes together as a rag tag group of kids who want so desperately to be a part of something and be accepted for who they are. It made me laugh and cry.

Three brilliant African-American women at NASA — Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson — serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world.

This film is an amazing story based on real-life historical figures as it walks you through the story of these amazing women in the STEM field and their careers while also explaining the technology of that time. It’s It inspires young minds to get interested in the STEM field and what it has to offer while also highlighting the strong bond created between these three women as they overcome obstacles. The film is motivational, informative, and joyful to watch!
