My Favorite Things” is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. Hope you enjoy these personal picks!

TV

The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project

Synopsis: The concept of the show is to form male and female unit groups of nine members each, among idols who had already debuted. The show is aiming to give them a fair chance to demonstrate their talents that they may not have been able to showcase before.

I love watching music competition shows even though they’ve been done before time and time again. The Unit, however, is a bit different from the rest (that I’ve watched in the US). Most of the competitors are soloists or have already debuted in the music industry already (with the exception of a few). This show gives them a chance to bring more attention to their groups they’re a part of and show off their talent. Each weekly mission is different and more challenging than the last one. I’ll keep watching till the end.

My Horrible Boss/Mrs.Temper and Nam Jung-gi

Synopsis: Marketing Department Manager, Nam Jung-gi  is so nice that his colleagues call him “Father Theresa” and “Walking UNICEF”. There is nothing that can ruffle Jung-gi’s feathers but his coworker, Ok Da-jung, who is so nasty tempered she’s been nicknamed “Fire Da-jung”, and isn’t impressed with Jung-gi’s affable nature. In fact, his goodness seems to bring out the worst in her, fanning the flames of her fury at everything and everyone. Will Ok Da-jung finally push Nam Jung-gi over the edge and ignite his anger, or will he eventually be the one to cool hers?

This show is awesome! It’s a bit different from the other K-dramas I’ve watched before, but I love it! It’s technically categorized as a romantic comedy, but for me it feels more like a workplace drama. It’s fun and light-hearted while also talking about more serious issues such as misogyny in the workplace, working parents, and even sexual harassment. I think the writing is solid and the story so far is very well executed. The drama not only focuses on Dajung and Jung-gi, but also profiles the lives of the people who work at Lovely Cosmetics.

Beauty

Corsx Pimple Patch

The first time I used this product it didn’t work out so well. I gave it a second try, and the pimples disappeared! I had been eyeing this product for a little while after seeing its praises from many beauty vlogs and it holds up its claim. For the best results I leave the patch on overnight to get its full effect. It’s great for getting rid of pesky pimples.

Tony Moly Natural Green Moisture Foam Cleanser (Shea Butter)

I know I talk a lot about Tony Moly on this blog, lol. I’m really enjoying this cleanser. The shea butter is very soothing and effective for moisturizing my winter skin. It smells good too!

Movies

Love.Com

Synopsis: When a fashion blogger falls for a video game vlogger, their romance goes viral. But separating their virtual life from reality gets complicated. …

Though this movie was a bit predictable of sorts, it was the just the kind of cute romantic comedy I needed at that moment. I enjoyed the characters and how they were never afraid to back down from what they love in life. This also led to clashes since their from different parts of the vlogging world, but it was interesting to see how they would work their issues out. The movie also brings up a discussion about social media in today’s society and I like how they incorporated it into the plot.

Ice Castles

Synopsis: Alexis Winston (Lynn-Holly Johnson) is a young girl who dreams of becoming a champion figure skater. One night, while practicing, Alexis suffers a terrible accident that takes her sight and threatens to destroy her dreams. In the midst of feeling sorry for herself she falls in love with a handsome young man named Nick (Robbie Benson) who (with help from her family) helps her to realize that she can still fulfill her dreams.

I’m on a kick right now, where I am watching anything ice skating related. This also reminds me to check out some ice skating themed books too. With the spectacular performances at the recent US Nationals I really wanted to watch an ice skating movie. I really enjoyed Ice Castles. It was a heartwarming story about a small town girl who has big dreams of being an Olympic skater. It’s also about overcoming life’s obstacles. The skating sequences in this film were so beautiful and the OST was great.

Music

Finesse (Remix) by Bruno Mars Feat. Cardi B

This remix is lit! As if I already didn’t love Bruno’s 24K Magic album to pieces, he went and released a remix of Finesse with Cardi B on the track. This song gives me all the 90’s feels and on top of that the MV pays homage to one of my favorite comedy sketch shows, In Living Color. The choreography for this is great!

Mansae by Seventeen

To be completely honest, I was not the biggest fan of Seventeen when they first debuted. Now they’ve slowly grown on my with catchy songs like Boom Boom and now Mansae. It’s got an upbeat melody, fun choreography, and it always puts me in a good mood!
