I loved everything about this story and it had me hooked from the beginning. The characters were interesting and the adventures the go on are exciting. And the two princesses fall in love, which are so cute! The artwork definitely matches the tone of this book and the drawings are so colorful and cute! My only complaint about this book is that it was way too short and I wish it was longer.

The Belles felt very reminiscent of other dystopian novels in the YA genre, but it has its own uniqueness that makes it stand out. I liked the concepts of the Bells and the lore behind their mysterious powers, it’s amazing what they can do, but it also comes with a dangerous risk. It has strong messages about ideal beauty standards and the beauty in this story truly does run “skin deep”.

If you enjoy romances with delicious food (especially pasta) and adventure, this story is for you. Though a romance this novel also felt like a story of self-discovery as the main character, Katie tries to figure out the future of her company as well as what she desires for her own life. Readers get to see the sights and sounds of Italy and how dishes we love are handcrafted carefully. Katie is faced with some harsh truths about how she truly hasn’t lived for herself.

In romance series set in a bakery instead of falling into the typical tropes of “fake marriage,” the author takes the time to weave through the dense narratives of the two main characters.  It does have some romance bits here and there, but it felt refreshing to see the characters navigate through their past and future. Each chapter focuses on a different recipe of bread and how it reflects metaphors for the characters.

It’s a YA novel about two teens who relive their tragic love story over and over until they uncover what they must do to change their fate.

Everyone’s Getting Married is a manga about adulthood as much as it is about love and relationships. The two main characters, Asuka and Ryu, are at a crossroads in their career and love life. They excel in what they do but are also pressured into marriage. The juxtaposition comes when Ryu and Asuka start to fall in love after a few chance encounters. However, they both want something different in life.

Black Friend tackles questions about race and racism head-on, approaching the issue in a manner that evokes the way it comes up in the real world. This collection of essays are witty and insightful. I loved the inclusion of Ziwe’s own stories to make the book more personable.

Felipe, the handsome Prince of Concordia in this novel seems like a great book boyfriend! His character was so swoon worthy!

This is novel reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is a romantic triumph of love and acceptance, plus its a book about books!

This manga is a nostalgic coming-of-age story that is sentimental and comical reflection on a teen’s path to self-acceptance.
