Today’s Topic: Sunday Brunch Book Tag

The American Classic- Eggs, Bacon and Toast

I love a good classic-style breakfast (plus breakfast food is my favorite food in general). For this prompt, I’ll pick a book that is easy to read since this type of breakfast meal is easy to make.  Cozy mysteries are one of my go-to genres when I want to read something light. Death by Dumpling is a very food-centric cozy mystery that takes place in a restaurant along with a tight-knit community of small businesses. I liked the overall setting and it’s got an entertaining cast of characters that makes me want to read the rest of the series!

Cinnamon Roll– An oooey, gooey wrapped up bundle of goodness. OMG….

The Bookshop Rescue is the coziest romance novel filled with fluff which makes it an equal counterpart to a cinnamon roll.  It takes place in an indie bookshop in a small town. Adding in the abundance of curious and cute puppies made this romance even sweeter. It was an entertaining fluffy read overall and I would read more books in this series.

The Denver Omelet- with Cheese please!

When I think of an omelet, I think of a dish that is full of many ingredients such as peppers and spices, so I’ll choose a book that has many elements to it. Heroine Complex is a fantasy novel with kick-ass heroines, action, interesting characters, and a bit of romance too. All these elements make for a great urban fantasy series set in San Fransisco which takes readers through the city and battles with supernatural creatures.

Pumpkin Spice Pancakes

When I think of pumpkin spice pancakes, I immediately think of the Autumn season. They are actually one of the few pumpkin spice-flavored items that I can enjoy. I am going to pick a book set in Autumn called Poupelle of Chimney town which is a gorgeously illustrated picture book. The story is about a town full of chimneys no one can see the stars. A chimney sweep and a friendly monster named Poupelle decide to prove that stars are real by going on a quest.

The Egg Cup

This is the only unappealing dish on the list. The egg cup is used for serving and holding boiled eggs which I don’t like to eat. Spice and Smoke was a romance novel that I just couldn’t gel with. I felt it was a bit underwhelming because the plot was a bit confusing. The writing style was jumbled, and it was hard to follow (at times) of who was connected to who. Additionally, I felt like the flashbacks weren’t too clear. These factors made it hard for me to get hooked into the story.
