Book Tag Thursday: OMG That Song Book Tag

As always for this segment, I will find awesome book tags throughout the vast, wide inter-webs and complete mini-challenges. I’ll hope you’ll have fun and participate with me as well!

Today’s Topic: OMG That Song Book Tag

Found At: Peace, Amore, Libri

MY JAM: A song you have to listen to no matter how many times you’ve heard it and a book that you’ll never get sick of

Let’s be honest and say that any Earth, Wind, and Fire song is a forever groove. I always dance when this song comes on!

For a book I’ll say the Morganville Vampires series by Chloe Neill. I rarely re-read any books , but I never get tired of that series.

THROWBACK: A song that reminds you of the cringiest time in your life and a book you read that you wouldn’t like now

Anytime I hear this song I think back to my middle school/junior high days where this was played at school dances. Such a cringe time, lol.

When I think of books, I probably would not go back and read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer even though I’m tempted to. I just don’t think I would like it, especially since I realize how problematic the book is.

REPLAY: A recent song that you have on repeat and a recent favorite book

MAMAMOO is a K-Pop girl group that continues to stay in my top ten. I like how funky this song is. It’s relatable because it talks about Covid-19 and missing friends and a sense of normalcy.

A recent favorite book would have to be Serpent & Dove by Shelby Maurin. I love me some epic fantasy novels and this one definitely delivered.

GETS ME: A song that is literally me and a book that is me in book form

I love some disco music! This song fits me since I am a person that’s always dancing to music. Plus it’s a good song with a funky beat!

As a book, I think I would say Smash It! by Francina Simone. The main character is a little more adventurous than I am, but I can relate to her struggles of trying to try new experiences in life and have a “year of yes”.

WUT: A weird song that you liked anyways and a unique book that stuck out to you for some reason

Bar Bar Bar is probably on of the weirdest K-Pop songs I’ve listened to, but that melody is undeniably catchy! The choreography also makes for a good workout.

Mothership by Martin Leight and Isla Neal set mostly in outer space, but some parts of the book do take place on earth. The story is set in the year 2074 and is about pregnant teen, Elvie Nara, who is shipped off to Hanover School for Expecting Teen Mothers in space. This book was so much fun to read because it was so non-realistic and out there!

LET’S GO: Pick your best pump up song and a book that inspires you

This song always makes me think of that cheesy, but iconic dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite. I still know the dance routine too! It puts me in a instant feel-good mood.

Yes of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. Though this book is little, its message is very powerful. By saying “yes” to more things in life, we can grow and have more experiences. It’s not always easy to do, but the sometimes the outcome is worth it.

CHILL: Your best chill or relaxing song and a book you’d curl up with on a rainy day

This song gives me all the 90s R&B feels. It’s calming and a song you can bop your head to. It’s a song I always go-to on my R&B playlists.

For something cozy I would go to a slice of life story. For this prompt I’ll pick the manga Yotsuba. It’s fun and enjoyable to read. I love how Yotsuba takes on each day as a new adventure and her interactions with everyone around her. She may be naïve because she’s young, but she is also very comical due to her outspoken nature.

ADDICTING: A guilty pleasure song and a light, trashy read you can’t help but love

Reminds me of my Hannah Montana days! Whenever this song comes on and I’m at karaoke, everyone is the room gets immediately hyped up.

I hate to call any books trashy, but Harlequin novels (especially the Presents and Desire lines) are my go-to guilty pleasure reads. They are fast-paced and light.

NOSTALGIA: A throwback song you look back on fondly and a book you read and loved when you were young

This song will be a forever jam and it gives me so much nostalgia when I hear. Tevin Campbell’s vocals in this track are amazing!

For a book from my childhood I’ll pick The Snowy Day by Erza Jack Keats. It’s my favorite snow day story and I love how colorful and cozy the illustrations are.
