The shortest month of the year – A short story or novella that you would like everyone to know about

If you like romantic suspense then this novella will be up your alley. I’m always intrigued by books about books and I appreciated that this story focuses on a former librarian who is a book curator. I hear that book curation is a booming business so to see it depicted in a novel was intriguing. Both Torr and Jasmine hit things off at first sight and the novella heightens the tension between the two as their relationship teeters between the professional and personal.
Valentine’s Day – your favorite romance novel

One of my favorite romances of 2025! The book was much longer than most romances, but I liked the medium-pace of the story that helped the characters feel fleshed and the relationship feel genuine. I enjoyed the way this Neighbors-To-Lovers trope played out and how readers also become intertwined with the building residents and leading character’s friends. They added so much entertainment to the story and help Greyson and Selah realize their full potential and support them in overcoming their past relationship traumas.
Leap Year – ‘One Ring to Rule Them All’ – the year for proposing. A book with your favorite couple

The slow burn romance aspects are done well, that had me anticipating what would happen next in the plot but not wanting to rush the progress of their (Kaila and Nathaniel) relationship. There are many swoon-worthy moments and a couple of spicy ones too. Most of all what I love about Howard’s romance stories is that she digs beneath the surface level with her characters and relationships. I enjoyed the exploration of modern dating through technology and how technology connect and shapes our relationships.
Romeo – Could be a book boyfriend, could be your favorite male character

This dark comedy series is hilarious and relatable to any adult as Uramichi struggles to navigate adulthood and his daytime job. It’s equal parts slice-of-life and work comedy that has many outlandish moments that keep the reader entertained. Uramichi’s sardonic remarks are very on point at times and I other readers can see a lot of themselves in him. This manga being feels good to read about the struggles of being an adult, and it makes you feel less alone in this busy world we live in.
Juliet – Could be a book girlfriend, could be your favorite female character

Frieren can be best described as a fantasy adventure with a much slower pace. Even though it’s full of action-packed magical battles, death, and harsh truths its slow pace gives this fantasy series a slice-of-life feeling. While immersive and transporting readers to a brand new world it feels realistic and bittersweet as Frieren has many self-realizations on her journey. She soon comes to terms with the concept of time and the purpose of life as she reminisces about friends who have passed on. She’s one of my current favorite female manga characters.
Enemies to lovers

When two rivals end up entangled in their family feud and in the cooking club at school, can they put aside their differences and get along? It’s a beautifully written story that showcases the beauty and culture of Brazil through sights, sounds, and smells. I myself wanted to travel to Lair and Pedro’s cozy little town and taste the food Salt and Sugar were creating. I was so envious of the cooking club (since they didn’t have one at my school growing up) and loved the friendship and teamwork they developed through making food.
Sweet like chocolate – a book that is positively delicious

This is a story of a salaryman who loves to cook delicious dishes (that look absolutely mouthwatering in the artwork) and navigate his way in a new world. It’s a comedic fish out-of-water story where he actually get to use the world wide web of our universe to help him along with his journey. The first volume does a great job of setting up the story and giving readers a background of Mukouda. He handles situations much better than i would in his predicaments and his easy-going attitude makes him a likable character.
A Rose By Any Other Name – a book with a romance that you didn’t expect

As an avid K-pop fan, the overall synopsis drew me to reading this novel. I didn’t feel the narrative was overly cheesy, and the characters felt very genuine. I liked the camaraderie between Fi and the band members and how they really worked together. You see the hard work that she’s put into their careers and how they kind of work together as a family and not just as a business.
A book that broke your heart

While I am familiar with Hendrix and some aspects of his career, I didn’t know too much about how he got his start in music as well as him as a person. It was heartbreaking to read about all of the turbulence in his early years from his parents on/off again relationship and not having a stable household. Though he didn’t grow up in the best of circumstances, he took what was deemed as tragic and was determined to have a better life for himself.

A lot of these sound fun! Frieren is on my TBR, and I think I’d like Life Lessons too.
I highly recommend the Frieren anime as well. It’s gorgeously animated.
