Jurassic World Rebirth

Zora Bennett leads a team of skilled operatives to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park. Their mission is to secure genetic material from dinosaurs whose DNA can provide life-saving benefits to mankind. As the top-secret expedition becomes more and more risky, they soon make a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.
This probably the weakest film in the Jurassic World series with Jurassic World but still a good movie watching experience. I got to see this film on debut weekend in Screen X theatre (offers a 270-degree panoramic viewing experience) which was so cool!: Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey were the standouts of the cast for me. While action-packed I wish there was more dinosaurs though. But will it stop me from going to see another Jurassic film? Probably not, lol.
The People Under The Stairs

When young Fool (Brandon Adams) breaks into the home of his family’s greedy and uncaring landlords, he discovers a disturbing scenario where incestuous adult siblings have mutilated a number of boys and kept them imprisoned under stairs in their large, creepy house. As Fool attempts to flee before the psychopaths can catch him, he meets their daughter, Alice (A.J. Langer), who has been spared any extreme discipline by her deranged parents. Can Fool and Alice escape before it’s too late?
I have been working my way through my movie watch list of recommendations that I’ve found from other avid movie watchers. For Summerween season, I settled on The People Under The Stairs. This film is a mixture of social commentary, camp, comedy, and horror. It’s one of the wackiest Horror films I’ve ever watched for sure. It took a while to grow on me but Fool’s journey into this kooky family’s house with a dark secret had me captivated. The film had a lot of moments that caught me by surprise and I ended up wanting to watch it again as soon as it was over.
That Christmas

A blizzard hits a seaside town, setting off entwined tales of family, friends, love and loneliness – and Santa making a big mistake.
I recently had a bad Summer cold and while trying to recouperate I found this film on Netflix I meant to watch last year for the holidays. Instead it became a Christmas in July watch! This is a cute animated film with a lot of heart and characters that you’ll grow to love. I love the intertwining of different narratives in this cozy small town and how they all come together in the end. It’s a bit formulaic at some parts, but a very cozy watch with good animation.
TV
Squid Game Season 3

Hundreds of cash-strapped contestants accept an invitation to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are deadly.
I finished Squid Game Season 3 in a week because I wanted to avoid all of the spoilers floating around the internet. While the season was good, I think the strongest season out of all of them was Season One. I think this along with Season Two felt a bit rushed by Netflix. As with the prior seasons, this final one had me on the edge of my seat and jaw dropping at how the characters stories revolved. I think the open ending of sorts is a reflection on the games and commentary on society. I wonder if they will expand the story’s universe in a new show?

Deepdive into Black Pop Girlies
I love the Black Girl Minute series by Taylor (check it out!) and was excited to see this latest video pop up on her channel. This is an informative and engaging historical deep dive and commentary on Black Pop girlis, how the industry has treated them, and who’s music to listen to next.
Dark Web with Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel
This YouTube series features comedians Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel delving into bizarre and funny content they find on the dark web. While it’s hosted on YouTube, it has a podcast-like feel. If you’re looking for some fun shows on YouTube this is one to check out.
Music
Yum by Kepler
One of Kepler’s newest songs that has been playing on repeat is Yum. It’s catchy as hell, the choreography is lively, and the chorus is an absolute earworm. This is an up-tempo house track that encourages listeners to face challenges with confidence.
This is For by TWICE
My girls are back with a brand new album that I just picked up in the store. I’ve always enjoyed TWICE’s music, but the last couple of years their music has grown on me even more. This song is fun and makes the perfect Summer bop with the 808 drums layering the melody in the background. Congrats on the 10 year anniversary ladies!
Step Right Up by BoykinZ
I’ve gushed about The BoyKinZ on the blog before and I’m so glad this rookie girl group is getting recognition. They just got a golden buzzer on America’s Got Talent and I hope the show gives them even more visibility. The harmony of their vocals mixed with the mid-tempo guitar grabs your attention throughout the whole song. I can’t wait to hear more music from these talented ladies!
