I spent a lot of time listening to my favorite songs and albums on repeat so this wrap-up is a bit lighter than pervious years. I didn’t realize until going through 2025 release lists that I missed out on new music from a lot of my favorite artists so I plan to remedy that in the new couple of months. Here’s a list of some of my 2025 favorites in music.

Albums

A Matter of Time by Laufey – A Matter of Time is the third studio album by Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey. Lover Girl, the lead single off of this album is one of my favorite songs. Like most of her music, the tracks are a blend of traditional jazz and pop elements. her melodic and soothing vocals which have this charisma to it make you feel cozy while listening to her music.

All Time Best 25th Anniversary by Crystal Kay – All Time Best 25th Anniversary is the fourth greatest hits album by Japanese singer Crystal Kay. I need need to get me hands on a copy of the physical edition of this album, but I was overjoyed that it has some re-recordings of old songs and some of her catalog from her years of being under Sony Records.

Empathy by IVE – IVE had a standout debut for me, but then I really didn’t get back into their music until this past years releases. This is their third mini album which explores the theme of emotional connection I think this is one of their strongest cohesive albums and each song was so good! I can’t wait for the group to experiment with more sounds in the future.

This Is For by TWICE – This Is For is the fourth Korean studio album by the group and this one includes five sub-unit tracks. I also wished the solo tracks by each member would have been included in the album, but it is what it is. Loved this album to pieces and all the genres explored on it. I appreciate with each new release the group tries out new material to keep things fresh.

  1. Ugh, I’ve been so lazy about music this year: it’s terrible. /sigh But the skitters of snow inspired me to pull out some holiday classics this past weekend: that was fun. Have fun exploring the new albums by your faves that you missed earlier in 2025!

    1. Me too, I was looking through my music this year and realized I need to branch out more for music in 2026. I hope you get to enjoy some holiday classics this season.
