My Favorite Things: February & March

My Favorite Things is a monthly segment where I share my personal and current favorites in seasonal products, health & beauty, food, decor, movies, TV, and more. I hope you enjoy these personal picks!

Movies

Hoppers

When scientists discover a way to transform human consciousness into robotic animals, Mabel uses the new technology to uncover mysteries of the animal world that are beyond anything she could have ever imagined.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Pixar film in person but from the trailers I saw I knew I wanted to see this movie. Like all Pixar movies do, it definitely made me cry because of how heartfelt it was and seeing myself within the characters represented/overall message. (Thankfully I didn’t sob at the end of the film like I did in Toy Story 4, I was a hot mess) The less you know about Hoppers going into the film definitely enhances the viewers experience as a whole. The character designs were great and they grew on the viewer instantly. It’s a good watch for kids and adults alike and very funny too!

I Tried Physical Media for a Month to Feel Like a Person Again

There’s been a lot of talk about going analog lately, and something I’m actively been trying to do for the last couple of years. I’m trying to break bad scrolling habits and focus on hobbies that don’t include a lot of screen time or using more of my own physical media. At the end of the day I think it’s about been more attentive in our lives and feeling more connected to the things we do.

Karen Carpenter: The Weight of Perfection

Emma Rosa Katharina makes videos all about 1960s & 1970s fashion, makeup, music and pop-culture. I lover her deep dives into musical artists and this video on Karen Carpenter’s career was done so well and with great care. I learned even more about her artistry.

Junk Journal With Me

Joyful Noise Creations is a creative crafting corner on the internet. I lover her content about crafting and she’s helped me to ease into the world of junk journaling (which I wanted to try this year). Her videos are fun and informative, providing some great ways to help you create the type of journal you want.

Music

Hooligan by BTS

BTS IS BACK!!!! After the first few listens to the album this song is my favorite so far. With its cutthroat lyrics and instrumental, the energy from this song makes you instantly hype. It’s been on repeat non stop!

Leak It by FLO

After their fantastic performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk, FLO is back with new music. I can’t wait for another album from these ladies. I love how the music is a blend of 2010’s pop/R&B and how they’ve upper their choreography this time. It’s so catchy and I like how the lyrics are focused on self-confidence in the digital age.

Sukiyaki by A Taste of Honey

I have been looking for classic records to add to my collection lately. Most of it was music I was raised on. This record popped up in my memories and its one of my favorites by this group. Janice Marie Johnson of A Taste of Honey was inspired to have her group cover Kyu Sakamoto’s 60s hit Sukiyaki after she heard Linda Ronstadt’s version of Smokey Robinson and The Miracles’ ‘Ooo Baby Baby’ while driving around Los Angeles.
