Slice of Life: Spring Wrap-Up 2025
Spring has come to an official end with Memorial Day weekend that just passed in the states! We’re diving headfirst into Summer with sunny days and hot weather. Here are some of my highlights from Spring 2025.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Founded in 1958, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is the largest modern dance company in the United States. Based in New York City, the company was founded by Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Alvin Ailey, a noted choreographer and dancer. I got the chance to see their performance for the second time in March. I love the elements of contemporary, ballet, and jazz used in their routines.
Florida Trip

In April, I had a fantastic trip to Florida with my dad. We stayed in Hollywood Beach (off the beach are) and walked along its broadwalk. We took a trip on the Water Taxi to explore the areas as it travels along the intercoastal waterway. We also visited South Beach Miami, the Versace Mansion (third picture), the Vizcaya Mansion (first picture), and the Everglades. It was so much fun!
Reading Rhythyms

I got invited to my first Reading Rhythms party. Reading Rhythms are “reading parties,” where guests read silently for an hour and chat with strangers about the books. I had such great time catching up friends and meeting many new people. The event was hosted at Detroit City Distillery which provided a cozy, warm atmosphere for the event. I would love to attend another one going forward.
Onew: The Live Connection US Tour

My first K-Pop concert of 2025! I have been a longtime fan since I got into K-pop so when I heard ONEW was coming to Detroit I knew I had to go. It felt like a full circle moment as a Shawol and being surrounded by so many other SHINee fans. His vocals were so smooth and I appreciated that he performed old and new songs. I really hope I can attend a SHINee concert one day.
Rolling Quartz: 2025 US & Canada Stand Up Tour

My first K-Rock concert was seeing Rolling Quartz! I discovered the band years ago from watching a cover of a Dreamcatcher show. These ladies are immensely talented and put on such a great show. I loved the covers of songs in their set list along with original tracks. Each member got the opportunity to shine and got the audience amped up.
Meeting Kennedy Ryan

A big thank you to the Detroit Public Library for hosting the meet & greet conversation event with Kennedy Ryan and Beverly Jenkins. Two absolute gems in the Romance genre! I got to meet Kennedy and she was the absolute sweetest and gave me a hug. I loved getting to hear both women about their craft, creating stories, and navigating the publishing industry.
